Mental health struggles can sometimes feel like our entire identity, but they’re not. You’re a person with a story, and I would love to hear it. Thoughts and emotions can weigh heavy on our minds, and my hope is to alleviate some of that burden by carrying it alongside you.

Hello! Therapy and choosing to engage with oneself on an intimate and vulnerable level can be an intimidating and frustrating experience, but making that decision, for yourself, can ultimately be one of the most rewarding things you can do. Choosing to know yourself and be compassionate towards your behavior and experiences can lead to not only tangible change but also fulfillment and a more well-rounded and positive outlook on life.

I believe that everyone has the ability to change. Sometimes it can be difficult being in the driver seat alone, so why not allow me to be there for you as the passenger? From my perspective, the client plays an integral role as the expert of their life. In sharing their journey with me, I hope to help them work towards sustainable growth and healing. My ideal client is someone who may be experiencing difficulty navigating their day-to-day responsibilities due to past trauma, current life stressors, and relationship issues.

Although most people will experience anxiety, depression, trauma, self esteem and relationship issues at some point in their life, some issues affect women differently and thus they need a different approach. Women deal with many unique issues like carrying the emotional burden in relationships, having different standards of physical beauty, being discriminated against at work, struggling with fertility issues, and experiencing intersectional racism. Women are often told to "deal with it" or that they are being too emotional, but I am here to tell you that your feelings are completely valid!

As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe and thriving environment that aids individuals and families in the ability to navigate through life’s stressors. My goal as a therapist is to assist the consumers in exploring their own thoughts, feelings and emotions— while considering their own interactions with people, places and things. As a therapist I aim to assist the consumers in discovering something new about themselves; while developing a new sense of awareness pertaining to self and/or possible disruptive behavioral patterns.

As a practicing therapist and former therapy client, I understand how difficult it can be to move forward when you feel stuck and struggling against what seems impossible to recover from or manage. I firmly believe that each of us has the ability to meet and even surpass our own expectations of what is possible for us to overcome, regardless of how dire the circumstances may seem. You are the expert on your own life and my role is to help you become a more confident expert. As a result, I work best with clients who are prepared to be active and committed participants in order to be more successful in therapy and everyday life.

Welcome to a therapeutic space where the focus is not on what's "wrong" with you, but rather on celebrating your journey towards emotional health & wellness. I am a dedicated and compassionate therapist committed to fostering acceptance, self-discovery, and emotional well-being. In my practice, I believe in embracing the concept of mental health as an integral part of our overall wellness. Just as we prioritize our physical health through primary care services, I advocate for the recognition and celebration of strategies that promote emotional health. It's about exploring the depths of self-discovery, resiliency and healing.

You may find that you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not knowing how to navigate life's problems. Society and life expectations can be really good at telling us what we should choose, value, or what should be important. You may feel trapped in cycles of judgment, perfectionism, and over analysis, which could lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and stagnation. I am here to help you find your way out of the mind’s clever traps and to teach you to relate differently to these types of thinking patterns, so these thinking patterns can no longer hold power over you.

Providing individual therapy is what I am most passionate about. My approach to therapy is using Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental conditions. However, through my experience, I’ve learned to be adaptable using Motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), or whatever modality fits the client’s needs. I believe that maximum input equals maximum output, so I aim to bring my best effort forward every day and I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all.

I think of my practice as a magnifying glass, one that zooms in on feelings and beliefs that are daunting to examine but painfully hold us captive every day. Too often, we are left feeling cyclically, if not perpetually, disconnected, confused, stagnant, and dissatisfied. I strive to create a collaborative and compassionate space for you to access those vulnerable parts of yourself. I also believe in the power of relationships – ones we have with others and ourselves. In addition to examining your pains in relational terms across time, we will likely explore your needs and values and the realistic ways to fulfill and embody them.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
