The hard places you find yourself today, are NOT where you need to stay! Together we can bring resolution, hope, and relief to the issues you want to resolve. We will work together to help you out of feeling: Isolated, unlike yourself, lacking motivation, chasing perfectionism, feeling worried/stressed about the future, overwhelmed with responsibility, or to work through past traumatic experiences that are keeping you from reaching your full potential. My clinical focus and passion is to help my clients through the process of trauma recovery (PTSD), treating anxiety & depression, as well as untangling relationship problems.

CBT helps explore the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while Narrative Therapy offers the opportunity to reshape personal stories and reclaim agency.
Specializing in working with adults, children, and teens, my focus is on helping individuals manage symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, and depression. During the initial sessions, a collaborative approach is used to develop personalized treatment plans that align with each client's unique needs. A warm and compassionate environment is provided to ensure openness and vulnerability, allowing clients to feel supported. Many clients experience a reduction in symptoms within the first few months of working together. Using a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Narrative Therapy, the goal is to empower clients to make lasting changes.

One of my main specialties is that I focus on analytical and narrative techniques.
My ideal client is one who knows that they’re ready for change. Change can be tough, so they realize that the cycles and habits that they’ve formed have been harmful to their potential. Their goals include finding themselves and wanting to reach peak acceptance. A client that is serious about exploration when it comes to creating new chapters in their lives. A client that is honest with me, as therapy does not work when you are not honest.

If ya'll are ready to grow, I'm ready to walk alongside of you. Are you motivated yet confused and hurting, too? You’re not alone. Relationships are tough and require a lot of work. That becomes even more tricky when the world is in crisis. Or, when you feel like you are in the midst of crisis. To be honest, your partner needs you, your children need you, your friends need you, and your family needs you. But mostly, you need you. You deserve the freedom to vent, unload your fear, and make space for peace and change.

Life gives us challenges- often unexpectedly. When that happens we can feel overwhelmed, sad, anxious, angry, lost, or frustrated. We can struggle with the next steps of how to start feeling better. All challenges hold within them opportunities and I'd like to help you as you discover them. I am skilled in helping my clients meet the goals they set. Together, let's figure out how to cope with what is occurring, better understand yourself in the midst of it, develop deeper strengths, learn new skills, and make the choices that feel best for you. Big changes and big challenges can make us feel alone, but you aren't.

Have you felt misunderstood by your therapist in the past? Have you avoided therapy because of what you thought it might be like? Therapy with me will be different because I will attend to those concerns in our very first session. I believe that the relationship you have with your therapist will be the number one determining factor for the success of your sessions. If this was not met in previous sessions, then, rightfully so, you may be avoiding talking to a therapist. I hope to be the therapist for people who don't like talking to a therapist!

I have been working with people in the behavioral health arena since 1984. I see many diverse individuals who have been living with many different issues. I feel that it is important to meet the individual where they are, and with them determine what types of change will be facilitated by therapy. I currently see a number of individuals who are battling substance abuse in addition to other life issues. My goals are to help motivate the individual to change and then help them to make and maintain the changes they need to make.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
