Ultimately, addiction is a distraction from life's meaning and purpose. My primary focus is seeing my client connect to their own meaning and purpose--not only in recovery but life generally. Through these re-connections one can forge a prolonged and stable sense of progress that paves the way toward whatever goal is on the horizon. I do not believe I am in the business of ‘fixing’ anyone, instead supporting people as they realize their own potential to overcome whatever challenges are preventing them from living the life they deserve.
I have a very pragmatic approach to counseling and enjoy using cognitive theories of counseling to help my clients challenge problems in thinking and behavior. Many of my clients find this straight-forward and nonjudgmental approach to be refreshing and insightful, while teaching practical skills for ongoing growth.
