Hi, I am Dr. Maureen Burney, a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I approach therapy by connecting quickly with people and making the process comfortable and effective. I see every client that I work with as having a unique story, and I am committed to helping to make their lives better. My approach to therapy is holistic and practical. My training has always been a combination of clinical psychology and health psychology. I listen carefully to understand who you are and to see how changes may add to the quality of your life. Therapy should be a custom-tailored experience to be most helpful.
I typically work with clients between the ages of 13 and 80. I enjoy working with mood disorders such as anxiety, OCD, depression, and bipolar disorder. I also like to help with relationship issues and transition of life concerns. I do have special training in working with people with medical conditions such as migraine, cancer, and chronic pain as well.
I became interested in mental health at a young age largely through volunteer work that was always a part of my family life. This led to experiences in many settings, including the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Center, Behavioral Medicine Units, University of California college counseling center, and years of private practice
