I offer supportive therapy as well as specialty treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT-i (CBT for insomnia; very effective!), and clinical hypnosis (including well-researched gut-directed hypnosis for GI issues such as IBS).
I help motivated adults to identify what they want out of life, figure out what's getting in their way, and overcome those obstacles to achieve the lives they want. I seek to help clients increase their own sense of autonomy and agency- the feeling that they have the power to make their own decisions and the resources to act on those decisions. My background and perspective can be particularly useful when working with clients who are high achievers, intellectual (including oriented towards engineering, science, technology), or who think of themselves as anxious, introverted, shy, and/or socially awkward.

I also integrate best practices for sleep and diet/nutrition, as these are integral to mental health.
Some people seek therapy when a new problem arises or when a problem(s) becomes to distressing and is now interfering in life. For others, therapy is preventive and helps manage the stress of everyday life. I believe that therapy is always beneficial, regardless of the reason or timing. My approach to mental health incorporates full mind-body wellness. My style of therapy is client-focused, collaborative, and insight oriented. You are the expert in your life and we will work together to learn and problem solve, in a supportive environment that encourages positive changes to enhance your life and overall well-being.

I have worked with children and adults suffering from depression, anxiety, and OCD, as well as, sleep related disturbances.
Everyone experiences emotions and situations in life that can be overwhelming, burdening, and anxiety-ridden. Many of these symptoms reflect inner conflicts and desires, but also early attachment patterns. Talking to a professional can help you develop insight and change patterns. My training as a psychodynamic psychotherapist and my previous work in neuroscience have shaped my practice philosophy. I believe that we naturally strive toward growth, safety and making relationships fulfilling. I provide a space where we can explore emotional conflicts, and make meaning of them--the basis for change and developing healthier ways of coping.

If you have experienced a trauma, I would love to work with you. Helping clients heal from trauma, which includes managing their stress and anxiety, is my area of expertise. Additionally, I’ll work with you to improve your self-esteem, improve your quality of sleep, and strengthen your relationships with others. This is especially true with couples (e.g., positive communication, strengthening bonds, improving sexual health/managing intimacy issues). In addition to individuals who have experienced sexual trauma, I particularly enjoy working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, children and adolescents, families, and couples.

My practice is about solving problems, from relatively simple ones like smoking, weight control, or sleep issues, to deeper ones like fears and phobias, and, complex, chronic illnesses that almost invariably have multi-faceted emotional roots. Of course, chronic illnesses can rarely be dealt with as easily and quickly as, say, insomnia, smoking cessation, teeth grinding, or TMJ problems. Habits and simple fears and phobias mostly respond very well to the application of skilled Direct-Suggestion hypnosis. However, Healing Hypnosis, my specialty, is a more intensive and deeper process. That aims to get to the root of problems.

My approach is based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) that takes client goals and utilizes techniques to accomplish the desired objectives. It is a collaborative, reality-based method informed by mindfulness and life-coaching strategies. This is a holistic approach and can last for 12 sessions or longer based on client’s choice. I encourage and assign homework between sessions and am always open to new ideas that will assist in your growth. I hope to work myself out of a job by sharing treatments and tools that equip you to cope with the daily living of life.

Have you had something traumatic happen in your past, and you don’t know why it’s all coming up right now? Do you ever feel like everyone else got a manual for life, and everything seems so much harder for you? Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with a serious illness (e.g., cancer), and you’re feeling completely overwhelmed? Have you lost a loved one, and you’re feeling stuck in your grief, like you just can’t move forward? (And maybe a part of you doesn’t want to?) Do you toss and turn at night, and you wake up feeling tired and groggy? Do you have chronic pain that gets in the way of your day-to-day activities?
