This fall, 1A Wellness is launching two life-changing groups. The first, "No One Should Grieve Alone," is an in-person group for young adults in their 20s and 30s who have experienced a loss. This group is special because it provides a rare opportunity to grieve in a supportive, understanding environment, among peers who truly get what you're going through. It’s a place to reflect, share, and heal together, helping you move forward with your life. Taking this step can offer the connection and support that are essential to finding peace after loss.

Through my experience, everyone has had different needs and different strengths. However, feelings of depressions, anxiety, past experiences, trauma, or poor relationships have negatively effected individuals' ability to see their strengths and the positive in their lives. Each day is stressful and can increase these feelings, making change feel nearly impossible.

As we recover from coronavirus restrictions and disruption of family routines, many kids are anxious with worries about school, missing friends, and not being able to enjoy their normal activities. Telehealth sessions as well as in-person visits are a way to offer support and to help both kids and parents talk about the challenges they are facing. The goal of sessions is to help family members develop positive coping strategies, enhance communication and build self-confidence during this challenging time. Sometimes kids need a neutral, outside person with whom to sort their feelings. Helping kids in this way is the focus of my work.

“I never used to be this way....why do I think like this?!”....Sound like you? Anxiety and low-self esteem can be consuming. You often feel your mind is constantly racing with worst-case scenarios, leaving you exhausted and overwhelmed. You find yourself constantly people pleasing by saying yes when you really want to say no, leaving you to ignore your own needs. Low self-esteem can make you trapped in negative self-talk, constantly comparing yourself to others, and feeling like you’re never good enough. It leaves you avoiding personal goals and neglecting what makes you fulfilled.

My practice aims to empower my clients to face their fears and discomforts in a supported and structured way in order to change the relationship we as humans have with suffering and to discover a life full of meaning. Often the many ways in which we cope, while in the moment feel helpful, can also keep us perpetually trapped in the very emotion, thought, memory or even sensation (e.g., pain) from which we are trying to escape.

You only have one body & accepting it might seem impossible. Many people turn to food, exercise, perfectionism, & anxiety to cope. However, they find themselves caught in an unbreakable cycle of unhappiness. Speaking with a therapist helps you to identify your unhelpful patterns, honor your strengths, create a toolbox of strategies, & learn to talk to yourself with compassion. My specialty is in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety and body image. Eating disorders rarely exist in isolation. I am experienced in treating co-occurring symptoms including social challenges, family issues, depression, ADHD, & trauma.

Why be imperfectly tuned? Because we need to learn to let go of the idea of being perfect and become truly grounded in ourselves. Many of us are carrying hurts that hinder us emotionally and/or physically. The hurt can manifest in many forms such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief or loss.

Are you a Millennial with anxiety affecting your relationships? Do you feel frustrated when you react more than respond? Perhaps there is a parent with whom you struggle to define boundaries. Do you ever wonder if you could feel fulfilment in relationships or if you're doomed to live emotionally isolated to protect yourself? Now more than ever, people are overwhelmed about how to build and maintain healthy relationships and identify and remove toxic ones. I believe that things can be better, and so do you (you're here, aren't you?).
