I was born and raised in India, and can read, write and speak Hindi, I can also understand Panjabi, Gujarati and Urdu.
I work with children and families struggling with emotional concerns - age 6+, and with preteens, teenagers, young adults and adults. I have experience working with PANDAS, OCD & tics, Anxiety, ADHD, PTSD. I specialize in the areas of Trauma, Sexual abuse, Dissociative Disorders, Depression, Phobias and short term crisis resolution. I help my clients by utilizing EMDR, TF-CBT or CBT approach to develop effective coping skills to increase personal functioning and resilience, and release past learned maladaptive behaviors/phobias that may be causing dysfunction in their present life.

Our unique life experiences influence how we relate to ourselves, and others. This is the lived lens through which we approach problems. We all have latent capabilities and skills to overcome challenges, but may find it hard to access them. It can be very helpful to speak with an objective person to gain insight and a better understanding of oneself. I work from an empowerment model, with a compassionate approach. I endeavor to build a therapeutic relationship founded on equality, trust and safety to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.

Hi, I'm Joey. I'm a licensed mental health counselor and certified sex therapist. I work with couples and individuals struggling with relationship problems, anxiety, sexual disorders, and sexual trauma. Finding just the right therapist can be a daunting task. I'm all about creating a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever's on your mind. Trust is key in any therapeutic relationship, and I take that very seriously! I'm open-minded to the core. No matter what your background, beliefs, or desires may be, you can trust me to approach with openness and a desire to grow alongside you.

This practice is based upon the reality that a mother’s wellbeing cannot be understood or supported without respect for her “mom work.” Mom work is invisible work. So - mom worry, mom anxiety, mom blues, mom guilt, and most especially, mom anger, becomes a negative judgment of a mother's "normalcy," rather than what it truly is: mom reality. Not a diagnosis, not “what’s wrong with me,” not an inability to do the work. Just mom reality, unsupported by respect for her work, and ultimately, unsustainable. Unless we push back to reclaim this ancient journey. You may wish to glance at my website to explore what I mean by this.

People say- "You have a problem, get it fixed- go see someone!" I say- "You have 'feelings'- go share them with someone!" 'Problems/issues' has a negative connotation; there are only feelings to start with- it can be fear, love, guilt, desire, anger, inhibition, disappointment, uncertainty. These are a part of human experience and totally normal, you are bound to have them...unless they become extreme or unbearable (that is when they become problems). I will help you in dealing with yourself and not let these feelings become the so-called 'problems'. I am a coach and learning expert that can help you learn 'you'. Let's learn!

Accepting New Clients! - Seeking therapy or finding a new therapist can sometimes be both intimidating and stressful. Once the right match is made, however, the therapeutic relationship almost always matures into an integral and rewarding aspect of my clients' routines and lives. I strive to engage my clients in a collaborative partnership as they process feelings, explore solutions and improve relationships. My eclectic and person-centered approach ensures that you continue to be the experts of your own lives, while providing a supportive, empathic and non-judgmental space for you to change or cope with life's various challenges.

Most of us do the best we can with the resources we have. Sometimes we think no one understands our worries & fears. If open to it, we want to work with a therapist when our usual ways of relating aren't helping & we feel stuck, anxious, angry or depressed. Therapy often helps provide insight into our strengths & internal resources we already have to help navigate challenging times. In sessions, I focus on working with clients to unlock this strength to steer their lives in the direction they want. I bring curiosity, warmth, respect, & empathy to my sessions.
