My name is Mary Nagashima, and I am Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, based in Northern California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and specialize in working with trauma and the anxiety and depression that often accompanies it, using mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, BrainSpotting, and EMDR. My approach is client-centered; I work with each client differently depending on your needs. I most frequently use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness training as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality.
My approach is to help you slow down in order to get in touch with your inner voice and assist you in processing and releasing painful or traumatic experiences. This process establishes a more grounded approach to living in the present moment and frequently reduces anxiety and depressive symptoms.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently, and for me to ask questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way.
