Over the last 45+ years I have had family and friends ask why I stay in the counseling field. My usual answer is, “Because I love it”. I am grateful to have two areas of the counseling field that are important to me. One as a counselor and one as a consultant providing clinical supervision/training/administrative and quality assurance guidance. By having the ability to work in both counseling and management arenas I am able to provide counseling to my clients, facilitate trainings in North Carolina, assist new counselors with improving their knowledge and skills, and provide consultation to other agencies/
My favorite parts of counseling are when a person has a breakthrough or realizes "I am making progress" or “I am worthy”. Over the years, I feel I have learned much from the folks I have counseled. My clients have taught me to meet them where they are by avoiding my placing my values on them, support their progress, and believe in the process.
My past experiences include working with adolescents, adults, and elderly with physical, substance use and mental health disorders. I have moved my limited practice to Charlotte, North Carolina. As of January 2022, I will not be accepting any new clients into my practice.
