I have over 20 years experience working in the field of counseling. I am also a Divorce Mediator. I serve adolescents and adults. I am a certified EMDR therapist and specialize in serving those who have experienced trauma. My approach is eclectic as far as therapeutic interventions. I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach while incorporating mindfulness principles. Cognitive Behavioral approaches emphasize the power of ones thoughts on our emotions and actions. Mindfulness stresses focusing on the present while regulating one's emotions.
I am informed in the practice Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a well respected approach in the mental health field that emphasizes the concept of mindfulness. DBT emphasizes a host of skills that keep you in the present moment and helps in the area of emotion regulation.
