My ideal clients want to realize the ways that anxiety, depression and unprocessed traumas are negatively affecting their lives and relationships. Clients of all areas of functioning are welcome; the desire to do the work to affect positive change is one of the most important factors in client progress. Goals are to work collaboratively to define success on the client's terms, regardless of whether they are what society might dictate. Clients want greater mental health, wellbeing, connection, healing from trauma, and insight into themselves, their motivations, wants, needs, values, and truths.
I focus on working collaboratively with clients to come up with therapy goals together. I believe that therapy is not done *at* a client, but *with* a client. I use an empathy based approach while creating a safe space to challenge negative beliefs about self.
As a therapist, I have a strong desire to connect with others. We therapists learn at least as much from our clients as our clients learn from us. Everyone has a unique story and life that is worthy of being heard and believed.
