I have been a pediatric speech therapist in private practice since 1988. Previously, I was on staff at Children's Hospital Hearing and Speech Center, Washington D.C. While at CHNMC, I provided evaluation and therapy for children and was the coordinator for the learning disabilities school. I specialize in children with delays in articulation and early language development and young adults with pragmatic language disorders. My book, Bailey Speaks! Book One: Sounds and Gestures has won numerous book awards nationally and internationally. Book Two! Words and Phrases will be published in 2023.
Depending upon your child's needs, therapy goals may include improving your child's pragmatic / social language, auditory comprehension, language organization, verbal expression and written language. Articulation therapy improves your child's oral motor and speech sound production while building phonological and literacy skills such as syllable segmentation and rhyming.
I have guest lectured at George Washington University for graduate students in speech pathology. In addition, I have given presentations and workshops for city, county and national conventions. I am co-author of "An Environmental Communication Profile; Evaluation and Procedure" for children with pragmatic social language disorders.
