I understand personally: abuse, narcissism, problematic marriage, hostile divorce, raising children in this dynamic, religious abuse and addiction.
Are you confused? Exhausted? Scared? I can help. I have a unique understanding of unhealthy relationships and how they operate and impact the lives of those in it. Most relationships start out hopeful and happy. Many turn at some point and this is where confusion lives. I work with individuals who have had difficult relationships. Healing takes a lot of work, and a lot of commitment, I won't sugar-coat...but it can be done. Or, perhaps you have issues with non-intimate relationships, maybe a parent, sibling, or child. Or maybe your child has conflicts with your ex. This too can be made healthier.

I work with teens, families, couples, and both men and women, in a variety of counseling settings and situations, and I specialize in marriage counseling, depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, and much more.
Everyone has seasons of difficulty, confusion, or moments where forward progress in life and relationships seem to come to a stop. These experiences, while deeply painful, can be harnessed as moments of growth in our lives that cause us to understand ourselves, our faith, our relationships, and the world around us to a much greater degree.

I use the Gottman method of marriage therapy and am level 3 trained.
Oftentimes couples are unaware they are missing essential skills to healthy and lasting relationships until conflict becomes repetitive and destructive. Through the tools, training, and counseling I provide, couples are able to process past hurts, establish skilled communication, develop empathy for the other, and move together toward connection.

teaches skills to enable couples to raise to conscious levels the dynamics which are influencing their marriage to provide healing for childhood wounds.
I have found that no single therapy works for everyone during my 20 years of treating trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias as well as doing marital therapy. While trained in traditional therapy, I have integrated mind-body therapies where appropriate since research indicates symptoms are stored in the body as well as in the mind. EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Tappas Accupressure Technique, Advanced Integrative Therapy, Thought Field Therapy, the Emotional Freedom Technique, and Healing from the Body Level Up are a few modalities I use along with cognitive restructuring and psycho-education. I work with each client to determine goals and treatment plans.

Experience passion in your marriage and fun in your family. You've spent years building an exceptional family, career, and life but recently have hit a snag. It might be a lack of intimacy in your marriage, a child who isn't thriving in school, sports, or emotional health, or a feeling that you're stuck--simultaneously overwhelmed and uninspired.

You chose to get married at one point, now it's time to stop regretting that choice, and build a great marriage once again.
You thought that you were going to have a great marriage, but so far that hasn't been working out. You hate the idea of divorce, but also hate the idea of coming home from work and having a big fight, so maybe you just avoid each other in order to keep the peace. You've perfected how to go through the motions with your friends and family, but behind closed doors, the two of you can hardly look each other in the eye. Or maybe you are struggling with a job you don't like, being too busy and stressed out all the time, or feeling stuck in a life you know should be better. You were created to live a dynamic life, and this isn't it.

How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
