Dr. Jacob has specialized training in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) & Related Disorders (Tourette's Disorder, Trichotillomania, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Skin Picking/Excoriation Disorder), as well as other Anxiety Disorders (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Specific Phobias, Panic Disorder, Selective Mutism). She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UGA, where she specialized in anxiety disorders. She then completed a 3-year fellowship at the USF Rothman Center for Neuropsychiatry, providing weekly and intensive treatment for youth and adults with OCD, anxiety, and related disorders.
Dr. Jacob conducts cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), including use of exposure therapy, exposure and response prevention for OCD (E/RP), and habit reversal training (HRT) in the treatment of her patients. Dr. Jacob uses evidence-based treatment approaches, which means that the treatment strategies she uses are supported by significant empirical research.
Dr. Jacob has over 15 years of training in assessing and treating OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. She is also Board Certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Jacob has published over 45 journal articles and written several book chapters on OCD, anxiety, and related disorders.
