Hi! I'm Marla Nelson, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I believe the counseling relationship is a cooperative partnership between you and me. It's your session. I am flexible in my counseling process, depending on your needs and preferences. I use many therapeutic modalities with clients that have proven very effective. I look forward to meeting you! I treat adults, teens, and pre-teens for depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment disorders, stage-of-life difficulties, trauma, social skills, career counseling, and substance use disorders.
I use a person-centered approach to establish a rapport and incorporate many counseling tools, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, REBT, Grief work, Focused Solution techniques, and trauma-informed care.
I like to maintain a comfortable and casual communication style and feel it is important that I partner with clients in making choices for their counseling journey. My current and former clients have felt comfortable discussing additional interventions they want to incorporate. Clients know that our sessions are a safe place to talk about anything.
