Good therapy begins by finding a therapist who is a good fit. I am glad you found your way to this website to find someone who is a good fit for you. My areas of focus are helping people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. These struggles can lead us to feel stuck, scared, overwhelmed, sad, exhausted. We focus our attention on only a few strong feelings, a few loud inner voices, and a limited number of choices. We feel small, frightened, conflicted and not fully ourselves and turn away from aspects of our experience that can bring healing and relief.
The therapy I offer centers around noticing and changing self-defeating patterns and expanding the range of what we allow ourselves to feel, think, and do. When we feel more open to a range of experience within ourselves, we feel more free to give voice to our experience and make choices more consistent with our deepest sense of who we are and what we want.
Because each of us struggles in different ways, I work collaboratively in identifying goals for therapy and in finding ways to reach those goals. This may involve revising the past or staying in the present, or some combination of both. My style is warm and interactive, genuine and direct, with equal focus on exploring your feelings, thoughts, and choices.
