My clinical focus is relationship counseling with 80% to 90% of my caseload devoted to working with couples. I use my own model based on my training with John Gottman and Harvel Hendrix that focuses somewhat on insight, but mostly on behavioral change and communication. I team with the couple to find solutions that work for them and increase the satisfaction that they both experience in the relationship. I also work with individuals on relationship issues.
As depression and anxiety are issues in many relationships, I take a natural and holistic approach to these problems. I help couples to include such things as aerobic exercise, meditation/relaxation, and better sleep habits as ways to decrease symptoms of both depression and anxiety.
I practice with four other psychologists and two licensed clinical social workers, all with varying specialties and expertise, including substance abuse and child centered play therapy. This gives me the ability to offer a truly family systems focus to solving relationship issues.
