An experienced therapist, I work with adults of all ages. I create a compassionate atmosphere where you can feel accepted and understood. Therapy is a partnership and feedback is welcomed. First, I want to help you to feel better NOW. We develop skills to reduce symptoms and solve problems. The root of the issue is addressed to ensure lasting improvement. We are sculpted by life's experience, relationships, and emotional patterns that may no longer work. Change begins with awareness, followed by the support and skills to begin to do/feel differently. Positive change feels better then old patterns.
I offer a menu of psychotherapeutic modalities. I am trained in verbal psychotherapy and the therapeutic use of movement and art. I am trained in EMDR a technique for anxiety, traumatic events (accidents etc), and resolving old stubborn issues. I use a psychodynamic approach but draw from other approaches.
With adults I really listen to"get" who you are and what you are experiencing. I work holistically with the whole person (body, mind, spirit, and culture) and their system (family, work, school etc). It is very important to address historical, behavioral, developmental and family issues.
