I have over 20 years' experience helping couples with communication and conflict problems. I use a variety of techniques to restore emotional connection and teach skills that promote a solid, happy relationship. Therapy starts with a thorough assessment to pinpoint strengths and stress points of each person and the relationship. I help premarital couples prepare for marriage using a 4-session, private program called Happily Ever After, which includes testing and a workbook. I offer a brief divorce prevention course to help couples decide if their relationship can be saved. I also use EMDR to work with clients healing from trauma.
I have a PhD and two Master's degrees in marriage and family science. I have conducted research on relationship satisfaction in Black, interracial, and multi-ethnic couples. I work with people of all races, genders, and ethnicities. I also work with adolescents and single adults wishing to find more peace and happiness in their lives.
I believe that being genuine is an important part of being a therapist. It's easier to open up when you feel comfortable, safe, and trusting. I strive to create a respectful, supportive atmosphere in sessions. With couples, I am sure to support each partner's needs and perspective. I have devoted my professional life to helping people.
