I am excited to bring my practice to Whidbey Island and to join the team at Water’s Edge in beautiful Langley. I have been in the field of mental health for over 35 years in various capacities, including a full time therapist in private practice at Ballard Counseling Group. The primary focus of my work is to help individual clients with the treatment of anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss issues, family dynamics, communication and boundary skills. My primary mode of therapy is a cognitive behavioral approach with heavy reliance on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
DBT is extremely effective in developing emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness and distress tolerance skills. In recent years, I have begun to incorporate psychodynamic approach where we explore the effects of one’s developmental history, past trauma (if any) and attachment style on current functioning.
