As a clinical social worker for the past 30 years it has been my intention to help others learn and implement the skills required to improve the quality of one's life. I have been trained in a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). Using a variety of these techniques I have helped individuals overcome their mental health difficulties and improve the quality of their life.
As a dialectical behavior therapist I work with adolescents and adults to help work through problems including emotion dysregulation, suicidal thoughts, impulsive behaviors, self-injury, trauma, and conflictual relationships. I provide individual therapy and group skills training for teaching and implementing DBT skills for managing difficult emotions.
My focus is on delivering the DBT model of treatment which includes mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness for helping clients develop a balance of acceptance and change. Additionally, I am trained in the DBT Prolonged Exposure protocol for the treatment of PTSD.
