Although I have worked with diverse populations, I gravitate toward the family systems approach and feel that a family’s distress is not attributable to just one person, but rather a combination of interactions of individual members within that “system.” I have been using Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples and individuals. Recently, I have decided to open my own practice. My focus will continue to be EFT as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help address the many clients who come to the therapy session with backgrounds in trauma.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I look forward to helping create a safe and accepting place, where couples can explore their unspoken–and often unmet—emotional needs. Utilizing ART, I want to help clients desensitize their traumatic event(s) and regain a sense of balance and freedom from the grips of trauma and our whole body response to it.
EFT looks at the heart of the conflict. One of the most poignant moments in an EFT session is when one or both of the individuals share the underlying longings and fears they have been too afraid to say out loud. Utilizing ART, I look forward to helping the clients gain some relief from their persistent trauma symptoms.
