Hi! My name is MJ. I truly enjoy people and learning about their stories. I have had many jobs/careers on my way to becoming a Therapist some of which were: Professional Dancer/Performance Artist/Choreographer (mostly Jazz and Hip Hop), Dance Instructor, Life Coach, Youth Mentor, Personal Assistant, Waitress, and Lead MC in an all female hip hop band in the 90s! I see Individuals ages 5-105 years old, as well as Couples and Families. Some of the matters we may address in our sessions are; Anxiety, Trauma, Grief and Loss, Depression, Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Anger Management, and Self-Esteem.
I aspire to foster a warm and safe therapeutic environment in order for us to build a rapport as. Some of the Counseling modalities I may use are; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, as well as variations of Art, Sensory, and Play Therapy techniques if appropriate.
