I work with young adults navigating the transitions and tasks of early adulthood (moves, breakups, early career experiences, etc), and help with ADHD, OCD, perfectionism and people-pleasing, panic/anxiety, insomnia, depression and PTSD. I also specialize in individual therapy with adolescents, and strategic parent consultation with parents who want to decrease conflict and improve their relationships with their kids with ADHD or adult children with chronic mental health conditions. I also help people process past experiences of living in residential treatment settings, especially "troubled teen industry" survivors.

I'm a bit of a nerd as well, and I build my own desktop computers. I would say the Pasayten Wilderness Area is one of my happy places. I practice Adlerian Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I work with clients aged 12 and up, including adults and couples. I am also a Clinical Supervisor and can train new counselors helping them earn hours toward their licensure.

Something within you has led you here. Something yearning for understanding, change, or acceptance. Maybe you feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in holding patterns, tending old wounds or wondering "What's next?" Whatever is present for you, it is my honor to meet you where you are, as you are, with compassion and curiosity. My goal as a counselor is to create a nonjudgmental, supportive space for you to connect with your truth. All of us are already whole, and therapy is a way to return to that knowing. I'm inspired by my clients' wisdom and creativity as they explore the highs and lows of their experience and find a way forward.

My approach is rooted in trauma-informed and liberation-focused practices and is influenced by my training in relational psychology. I believe relationship plays a foundational role in our formation - the relationships we have with other people as well as the systems and environments we find ourselves in can have a profound impact on us. We often experience wounding through relationship but can also experience immense growth and healing through relationship, both with ourself and with others.

We will work together to help you find relief from emotional and relational pain and dissatisfaction, and we will work to give you hope for a more meaningful and satisfying life.

At some point, many of us can be overwhelmed by feelings anxiety, anger, disconnectedness -- or maybe we simply feel stuck in life. These painful places are not just emotional experiences; they can also be seen as spiritual. They carry the potential to transform us. The key to unlocking such transformation is to listen deeply enough to discover the meaning inherent in our most difficult experiences. I can help you to do that; it is the work I love to do. My goal is to help you discover greater freedom by connecting with your own deepest wisdom.

I have 6 years of experience working with people on trauma, depression, anxiety and relationships, including family, same-sex, cross-cultural, poly relationships. I value a lot working with people from the LGBTQ+ community and diverse cultural background. Traumatic experience comes in many looks. Trauma can be anything painful that you experienced in life, and still impacts your life currently. Sometimes without proper resources and appropriate support, trauma can bring a lot of emotional suffering and damage to your quality of life. (The best way to reach me is via email)

It feels like you’ve lost everything. Morning no longer holds the promise of a new day, only the weight of unspeakable sadness. This is just the way life is now. The mail is piling up. Work deadlines are coming and going. Food has no taste, and everything that once seemed so important feels meaningless. Everyone else has moved on, but you're still stuck in that moment when your whole world ended. You can’t move on because you can’t imagine living without that love. And moving on would mean giving up that last remaining connection to the life you had. But, at the same time, you know you can't go on this way either. You feel trapped.

My office is a safe space for all individuals and couples. People look to counseling for a variety of reasons - anxiety, depression, dissatisfaction, misery. Those who find work with me helpful seek fuller understanding of themselves and their connections in the world. We take a compassionate and curious stance as we pay attention to you. Through the lens of attachment, we examine how your current experience of (in)security and safety influence your feelings and choices in adulthood. In couple work we look at repairing what interferes with meeting each partner's normal human need for safety and connection with one another.

Imagine you have a collection of letters. Communication gathered throughout your life, but try as you may, you can't read them on your own. Perhaps if you knew their contents circumstances in your life could be different. In psychotherapy, you can figure out what these letters mean in a trusted, confidential relationship. By following what comes up, all that's been written in your life, no matter how difficult it may be, we will create space for change. Put differently, therapy is a space to, "Be what you are becoming without clinging to what you might have been; what you might yet be" - Luce Irigaray.

If you’re experiencing shame, guilt, or crippling perfectionism, I would like to help. You may feel stuck, wrestling with constant self-criticism or struggling with the same damaging ideas for years making self-acceptance impossible. Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to endure it alone. I hope to create a space where you feel safe to share your story, support you in navigating the most painful parts, and ultimately help you find healing and wholeness. While we can’t change the past, we can shape its impact on our present and future.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
