I view therapy as a search to discover more meaning and satisfaction in life, free from crippling symptoms. Although crisis often drives people into therapy, they often leave with precious opportunites for new life. Energy that had been spent managing problems like anxiety, addiction and depression can be used to create a life of healthy purpose and pleasure. I view my role as providing therapeutic presence to create a safe environment and caring relationship, elements necessary to support one's search for authentic self and healthy self-expression.
I trust the intelligence of the body. I am a traditionally-trained psychotherapist who employs somatic approaches which consider the person's physiology alongside thoughts and feelings. This more holistic way produces deep and lasting change that goes beyond relief of symptoms. Mind and body learn to work together effortlessly toward full health.
This integrative work helps to resolve emotional and mood imbalances, relationship difficulties, trauma or abuse issues as well as challenging life transitions. The somatic approaches I use include Somatic Experiencing, Bioenergetic Analysis, Organic Intelligence and Meditation for Stress Management.
