When we have an experience that is traumatic or incredibly stressful, our brains have a hard time processing that memory. This can create symptoms such as, anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, difficult feelings, self-blame, or relationship problems, to name a few. If given the opportunity, our minds, like our bodies, have the innate ability to heal. The trouble with difficult experiences, however, is that these memories get tangled, leaving us feeling stuck or showing up in other destructive ways in our lives.
EMDR is an evidence based and highly effective therapy that targets and quickly untangles those disruptive memories, in turn, allowing our minds to tap into that place of healing that exists within all of us. As your therapist, I am here to guide you through that journey of self-healing, and to make sure we do that in an emotionally safe therapeutic space.
