I enjoy working with people who are experiencing life transitions, changing careers, going through grief or loss, experiencing anxiety, looking for support with trauma, developing coping skills, or just seeking support with the messiness of life. I want to work with clients who are motivated to engage in self-reflection and make a commitment to creating space for themselves to work through their current patterns that are no longer serving them. I meet the person where they are at and understand what ways they would like to make changes in their life.

I specialize in grief and loss, addiction, codependency, and life transitions.
My ideal client is willing to start the exciting but sometimes challenging journey to finding themselves. I love to work with folks who make the active decision to start therapy, even if they do not have a concrete goal in mind. I can certainly assist a client who does not have a specific goal in finding something they want to address. My ideal client would be willing to reflect on themselves, their lives, and their choices, and they would be willing to work collaboratively with me to either maintain or change their path.

My experiences as a therapist have allowed me to be a part of some of the most painful moments in a person’s life as well as some of the most beautiful successes. I have found incredible meaning in supporting others as they strive to make changes and improve their quality of life while sharing with them the burden of the effort this requires.

My areas of clinical specialties include, but are not limited to, trauma and PTSD, addiction/dual-diagnosis, adjustment difficulties, grief/ loss, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
Are you feeling distressed, unexplained irritability, stressed, sadness or fearful? These can be signs of trauma. Trauma can appear big or small to the outside observer, but it affects each person differently. Often times seemingly "small traumas" can have a monumental impact on our life and ability to experience happiness. I have been working with teens and adults for 10 years. I integrate various research- based interventions to tailor treatment based on individual needs. My approach works well with people who embrace change and also with those who may be resistant to it.

I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationship issues.
At some point in our lives, we all experience difficulties. I have experience with successfully treating anxiety, depression, worry, irritability and relationship issues. This does not have to define a person. Instead, we can focus on our strengths to change what we need to live happy, productive lives. Everyone's journey is unique and I will follow your lead, and we will work at your pace. Therapy should be tailored to your needs and goals. I realize beginning the process of therapy can feel overwhelming and that finding the right therapist can be even more difficult. Thank you for considering me in this process.

I work with clients facing a range of issues, including grief and trauma, mood disorders, interpersonal conflict, self-harm, self-regulation difficulties, and experiences of oppression. I see therapy as collaborative, and work together with clients to address their needs in an individualized way. I would be a good fit for clients seeking a warm, supportive relationship with their therapist, with any amount of prior therapy experience (whether it it is your first time in therapy or you have been in therapy for years). I specialize in work with LGBTQIA+ clients, and welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds.

I want to help you develop skills to deal with uncertainty, loss, change, and situations we all face, which can sometimes feel overwhelming.
My ideal client is an adult who is facing challenges associated with depression, anxiety, life changes, and life stages. My client seeks to find joy in life and expand tools to meet the day's challenges. Another ideal client would be the neuroatypical person seeking to understand how to navigate a world they struggle to understand. This could include those on the autism spectrum or ADHD. Another ideal client would be seniors seeking to navigate the challenges of aging, including loss of jobs through retirement, changing health, or any other issue.

Why be imperfectly tuned? Because we need to learn to let go of the idea of being perfect and become truly grounded in ourselves. Many of us are carrying hurts that hinder us emotionally and/or physically. The hurt can manifest in many forms such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief or loss.

Starting therapy can be intimidating and why it is vital to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and safe. I view each person or family I work with as individuals and incorporate how relationships and environment impact daily functioning. The priority in treatment is supporting you to increase self-care, self-love, and guide you towards wellness and healing. As a LMFT I have had the opportunity to work with a myriad of mental health needs focusing on anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life stage changes, and the LGBT+ community.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
