The modalities that I find most helpful in the healing process are Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy ( AEDP).
I am a licensed therapist who works with individuals and couples of all ages and various presenting concerns. I work with individuals with mental health challenges, addictive behavior, or life-transitional issues (e.g. beginning high school/college, launching into adulthood, managing relationships, grief/loss, etc.). I help couples get to a place of connection where each partner feels heard, understood, and loved by the other. No matter what circumstances led us to where we are today, I believe that we all have the potential to be happy and content.

I am Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Level III Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapist (“ AEDP”).
We are born inherently intact, hard wired to experience life fully in all its beauty. By no fault of our own, life often leads us astray from our true nature, and we are left depressed, anxious, traumatized: hurting. By choosing to enter a therapeutic relationship with a caring other, I strongly believe that we can reconnect with that core energy and vitality. Therapy can be the vehicle to healing the mind, connecting with our core spirit, and achieving the personal growth and fulfillment that we all seek as humans. I would be honored to be that caring other and accompany you on your journey of healing and fulfillment.

Throughout my years of training and practice I have sought many avenues for further learning (peer supervision groups and numerous workshops and week-long training institutes to study AEDP, IFS and trauma therapies) to help you grow in a healing relationship.
I have been a psychotherapist for 48 yrs. and a therapist-at-heart for much longer. To make this an optimal experience for you we will stay close to your desire to grow and heal. In our working relationship it is essential that we have an open and honest communication about all aspects of our work together. I understand it takes time for trust to develop in order to discuss certain concerns freely. I expect and welcome your feedback about what is useful and helpful and what you think might be changed for the better. You bring powerful resources to this therapy and I will encourage you to get to know them and practice them.

Trained by Psychedelic Therapy Boston, I work collaboratively with a prescriber to offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). This modality utilizes the power of a medicine-induced, non-ordinary state and can offer clients some space from the parts of themselves that are overly critical, judgmental or are just feeling really stuck. In between medicine sessions I provide psychotherapeutic integration sessions in which clients can capitalize on the benefits of this altered-state experience and weave the insights more concretely into their daily lives.

People often relate to emotions as obstacles. Research shows emotions can give us valuable information to help guide our actions and to make good decisions. To make use of emotions, we must learn how to identify them, to experience them without becoming too overwhelmed, and to transform emotions that are not useful. I believe this type of learning happens most effectively in the context of a trusting relationship, and that a good psychotherapy relationship can provide an excellent opportunity for this. I help people learn how to relate to their emotions in ways that can be life-enhancing, rather than frightening or overwhelming.

You work hard to keep it all together on the outside, so people don't see that inside you often feel shaky and exhausted. It's true you've achieved a lot in your life, but that doesn't stop you from feeling you don't belong, aren't enough. It may feel like anxiety, co-dependency, and low self-esteem have been a part of your life for as long as you can remember. One thing is sure: you’re ready for relief. You’re ready to connect with a sense of ease and self-love so you can enjoy the success you've earned. You're ready to let your whole messy, complicated, beautiful self be known and loved in close, lasting relationships. I can help!

I understand the vulnerability, trust and courage it takes to engage in psychotherapy and confide your deepest worries, fears and desires in someone. I also know that it can be challenging to nourish your self-esteem and experience positive emotions when you feel consumed by excessive worry and the recurrent distress of traumatic events. You don’t have to do this alone. Together we will work on developing the mechanisms you need to cultivate inner peace and harmony as you weather some of your life’s transitions.

It takes a lot of courage to enter into therapy as it means acknowledging that something isn't working in your life. Everyone who comes into therapy is a unique individual whose problems are different eventhough they may fall under the same category,e.g."depressed." Sometimes people enter into therapy with specific problems while for others there is a need to understand old, negative patterns of behaviors.

Does it feel like nothing truly works to ease your anxiety? On the surface, you're a person who has it all together, but in reality you never actually feel at ease. You're struggling with self-doubt, people-pleasing and you put everyone else before yourself. Maybe there are things that happened to in the past that you've minimized for years because "others had it worse." You’re ready to drop the struggle of needing to do everything "right." You’re ready to stop needing to always be the one to handle the messes and instead be the one who gets the support. Most of all, you’re ready to finally feel okay with saying you need help.

If you feel burdened by sadness, anxiety, unsatisfying relationships or difficult life transitions, therapy can help you find more effective ways to cope and connect to others in a more meaningful way. I believe that therapy is a process in which we will work together to help you live a more fulfilling life. My approach involves helping you cultivate curiosity about yourself, to understand both the positive and painful experiences now and in your past, so that you can move toward your most authentic self. Ultimately, my wish is for you to feel more comfortable and at peace, and to live a life that feels meaningful to you.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
