effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, low self-esteem, and significant life changes.
**Currently have a waitlist** We all reach points in our lives where things feel challenging or even completely overwhelming. Beginning therapy may seem intimidating making it extremely important to find someone who helps you to feel safe and comfortable. My style is warm, collaborative, and flexible. Therapy can be a safe place where you can let your guard down and explore your feelings at your pace. I am here to support you in reaching your goals by being both completely non-judgmental and supportive and also challenging you at times in the process of self exploration.

Particular areas of interest and experience for me include trauma, women's issues, empowerment and self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, multiculturalism, and transitioning to college and adult life.
Life is messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful. So is the process of change. To be honest about this takes courage and vulnerability. It is also the first step in the process of personal transformation. By working with me, you do me the honor of sharing these experiences for the purpose of healing and personal growth. I believe in a collaborative model of therapy that is centered on your experiences and relational. By sharing together from a place of authenticity my goal is to listen, support, and challenge you in order to face and overcome obstacles standing between you and the fullness of the life you were meant to live.

Over the past six years I have worked with clients and families who are working through anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidality, and self injurious behavior.
My ideal client is someone who is willing to work with me in order to achieve their goal. This includes being able to have back and forth conversation around ways to achieve that goal, as well as have the more difficult conversations when it comes to road blocks and the occasional self sabotaging behavior. I will always be honest in my assessments, and thoughts, and my hope would be that my client is as well.

I provide trauma information about safety and self-care, trust, remembering, shame and self-blame, compassion, anger, body image, relationships, and the process of recovery.
The ideal client is motivated to continue to work with their inner child to become grounded in the present moment. They may have anxiety, mood disorders, or personality disorders, or they may not be sure what is underlying their experience, which I can help identify as well. The ideal clients are open to trying new methods of healing, including arts and spirituality. They are willing to trust me with their feelings and express them, whether that is verbally, through the expressive arts, or both.

I was able to truly find myself as a therapist, gain experience working with individuals 18+, learn about the way the court system works, especially with regards to drug and alcohol offenses, and also gain experience working with various presenting concerns, from depression and anxiety to trauma.
Hello! My name is Greg Corbett and I am a LMHC in the state of Massachusetts. I have been working as a therapist on some level for the last 7 years. During my time as an undergraduate, I had the pleasure of having two separate internships; one at a rape crisis/domestic violence hotline and one at a substance use treatment center. Through these two internships, I was able to learn what it was like to be a therapist and discover that I wanted to continue to pursue my education to become a therapist myself.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
