I provide counseling for the following: Anxiety, Addictions, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Adjustment issues, Anger, Depression, Mood Disorders, Drug and Alcohol Use Disorders, Women's Issues, PTSD, Relationship issues, Recovery, Narcissistic Abuse, and parental issues and strategies.
My specialty is helping others develop an optimistic state of mind. I have learned that every person is the right person to help when they are ready. You are far more powerful than you may think, and you can have a profound impact on your own happiness. Changing your thoughts and behaviors can be difficult. It takes time and practice, but it can be done. Our brain has a dramatic impact on how we think, feel, and behave from moment to moment. Everyone can experience negative thoughts and emotions sometimes, but it is how you accept, express, and cope with them that turns into your reality.

Peace is not the absence of problems, but the ability to cope with it. But how? You don’t have to answer that question alone. Taking that first step to seek support is powerful, and it can mark the beginning of a journey toward peace, balance, and fulfillment. I love the work I do and am committed to helping individuals navigate mood disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Your past can impact your present and your future. Let's take the present moment to process your emotions and learn skills to help you achieve a life that future you would be proud of.

Are you feeling anxious, stuck, sad, depressed, grieving or just don’t feel right? Are you having a difficult time with your current and/or past relationships, parenting— or are your children having challenges with their siblings, peers, or with school? Has being a caregiver of an elderly parent challenged you? Are you a parent of an adult child(ren) whose relationship or communication has become tense or strained? Or maybe you and your partner just aren't connecting the way that you once did . . . . We are all feeling a bit “off” during these uncertain times. Now more than ever it's an important time to engage in self care.

Through my practice as an LMHC, I have found my style matches perfectly with people living with everyday mental illness such as anxiety/depression/substance use/life stress. Most clients come to me for support with identifying issues, assessing them and then problem solving to overcome and strengthen their own skill set and use of coping skills. My clients enjoy traditional talk therapy as well as setting some goals and using my service to keep them accountable. Whether you are looking for a non biased, clinical, third party to chat with or someone to process and overcome stressors and life issues, you are in the right spot.

I specialize in helping Christian women integrate their faith into clinical practice and solutions. I am here to support and empower women who have lost their sense of self. There are many obstacles we encounter in life and sometimes it takes someone sitting with us and exploring what is making the mountain seem immovable. I specialize in helping set up goals and develop a path to achieve them. I enjoy working with married couples, to help them develop healthy ways to handle conflict, and also those trying to blend a family. Currently using EFT for couples as well! I also do premarital counseling for engaged couples.

I love a good conversation. So much can be learned from the give and take of sharing in a safe space. My clients mostly find themselves in a situation unimagined or unplanned for and want guidance. I have worked with all ages and in many settings. No matter the specifics, all are looking for change - resolution of grief and loss, relationship decisions, exploring unhealthy choices, having feelings that immobilize them and/or concerns about their future. I believe two heads really are better than one. I am here to support you in your journey, however long it takes and in whatever direction makes things better for you. Let's talk.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
