I have been a psychotherapist for 20 years. My practice specializes in helping men redefine their approach to relationships in a way that feels authentic, and in line with healthy male emotional development. I specialize in self-esteem, self-actualization, and helping men build and maintain attraction and intimacy. The foundation for male self-esteem begins in childhood and sets the foundation for men to share themselves in relationships, feel successful, and being a meaningful part of their children's lives. I also specialize in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in men and women, as well as recovery from abusive relationships.

Much of my career has been trauma-focused, to help build self-awareness and understand the mind, body connection.
Just about everything in life ebbs and flows which at times can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and defeated. It is important to remember that although life may feel heavy at this moment, it does get better and you don’t have to feel ashamed of your emotions. You are entitled to recognize and accept the individual that you are right now, while also feeling inspired and motivated by the individual you envision yourself to be in the future.

You can disarm the trauma and grief that has made the days so uncomfortable.
There are long, lost fears and often past traumas at play in all of us. Some surface, wreaking havoc with our lives. They can appear as grief, depression, anxiety or crisis. Others remain dormant and can surface at all the wrong times. You may appear successful, but despite your accomplishments, you are not happy or it seems like others are happier than you. Your personal relationships are not satisfying in the way you expected. Why is happiness still elusive? The uncertainty and stress of the past three years have put pressures on us which have frequently brought the worst in life to the surface.

Hi! I'm Jordan. There's a lot of pain and joy in this life. People die, we get into ruts of eating or sleeping poorly, and large societal forces cause hurt, take away opportunities, and unfairly distribute resources and suffering. Sometimes our efforts to change these conditions result in more suffering. I aim to offer therapy that acknowledges the many levels and influences along which our lives unfold. I have specific experience working with people seeking to change patterns called post-traumatic stress, insomnia, depression, anxiety (worrying, panic attacks, social anxiety), and borderline personality disorder.

Have you lost someone close to you, whether through divorce, a breakup, or death, and find your grief taking over your life? Are you questioning your sexual orientation or gender? Are you experiencing post-traumatic stress symptoms? You don't have to do it alone. I work collaboratively and compassionately with my clients to help them come to some kind of peace with whatever they're struggling with. I believe that everyone has a strong inner core that can get eclipsed by traumas both large and small. Together you and I would work to find and reclaim that core.

I am active and collaborative in my approach to therapy where I encourage the balance of acceptance and change. We will search for ways to integrate self-compassion while emphasizing action steps for shifting thoughts, behaviors and emotions to help reduce the current intensity of stressors.

My current focuses are couples, trauma, and working through attachment challenges new and old.
I take a comprehensive approach to helping my clients feel better. For many people, therapy is episodic. We arrive at therapy when we need to overcome a momentary setback, learn or re-learn how to manage negative feelings, work through paralyzing indecision, manage grief, and clarify our goals, among other reasons. I believe in supporting clients in finding their own inner guide, coping skills, community resources, and social supports so that their path to feeling better is in their own hands. I particularly enjoy helping couples better understand and communicate around feelings and behaviors.

I provide trauma information about safety and self-care, trust, remembering, shame and self-blame, compassion, anger, body image, relationships, and the process of recovery.
The ideal client is motivated to continue to work with their inner child to become grounded in the present moment. They may have anxiety, mood disorders, or personality disorders, or they may not be sure what is underlying their experience, which I can help identify as well. The ideal clients are open to trying new methods of healing, including arts and spirituality. They are willing to trust me with their feelings and express them, whether that is verbally, through the expressive arts, or both.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
