Gestalt therapy helps you rely on the wisdom of the present moment rather than what may be perceived as the false truth from the "story" about the past.
I feel honored to work with individuals who are motivated to explore issues, establish goals for change, and take restorative steps toward stress reduction and inner peace. I am a licensed Gestalt psychotherapist who focuses on reintegrating our broken parts, and an ordained Buddhist priest/Zen Teacher (Sensei). I believe returning to one's original self is key to entering life's many challenges. It is a humbling honor to enter this exploration and journey with clients that enter my practice.

I have extensive training in many areas including Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, Somatic Experiencing, Focusing & Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
Suffering results from our disconnection from our self, our bodies, friends, families and world and the Divine. This may manifest as anxiety, depression or other difficulties depending on an individual's in-born biology and life experiences. I work collaboratively with each individual according to their needs and desires. I am most interested in facilitating lasting change at the deepest level.

Therapy supports well-being when the relationship helps us tap into our strengths and resources. My commitment to you is to build this kind of relationship. Results include improved mood, relationships, increased energy, motivation, self acceptance, and creativity. I practice a body-based therapy called Somatic Experiencing that is a gentle approach to healing PTSD and symptoms of trauma. I offer a transpersonal approach that draws from body-centered psychotherapy, EMDR, mindfulness and Gestalt tradition.
As human beings, we are all seeking safety, joy and connection. Inevitably, roadblocks arise blocking this path. Luckily, the therapeutic process can help a person move through these obstacles. This could mean the dissolving of old wounds, cultivating more fulfilling relationships, or discovering a sense of freedom. The benefits and rewards of healing and growth far outweigh the burden of carrying old traumas and wounds. I would love to help you create a more fulfilling life! I enjoy working clients who wish to explore their authentic nature and are open to learning about their body and unconscious process. LGBTQ friendly.

I support folks in reconnecting with what our bodies have to tell us about our hurts and healing. I am a somatic and Gestalt-trained therapist, meaning that I have particular experience leading folks in reconnecting to their bodies, + working with their nervous systems to access new possibilities for healing. I often work with individuals navigating anxiety, relational difficulties, obsessive compulsive patternings, chronic illness, and grief + loss. I especially enjoy working with folks who have a mindfulness/meditation practice, are curious about embodiment, and interested in cultivating deeper intimacy with themselves and others.

It is strange and often hard to be a human being. I walk alongside my clients amidst life's chaos to demystify each person's unique inner world. I encourage getting curious about symptoms rather than judging or condemning them. I am passionate about couples work in particular - this is my current specialty/focus. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, where I studied dream/imaginal work & unconscious processes. My work is primarily psychodynamic & depth-oriented - striving to uncover what has been forgotten, digging deep, & viewing all parts of self as valuable

Hello! Whatever your intention for therapy, it is important to find a therapist that makes you feel safe, valued, and understood. I believe that my clients are the true guides to their own happiness and destination, resulting in not one specific formula for healing, but rather utilizing each individual's strengths, needs, and interests. I enjoy establishing a conversational atmosphere that is genuine, empathetic, and validating. Through this, I create a safe and nurturing space for self-discovery, self-growth, and healing. My style draws heavily on empathy and mindfulness as well as ACT, IFS, and solution focused therapies.

Most of us decide to enter into therapy because we are in pain and we want to find ways to end the pain. We feel stuck, without choices. While we are drawn to change and growth, it can also be very scary. As your therapist, I see it as my job to help you find the courage to see yourself clearly, to harness your own strength and resources, and to discover your own answers.

My ideal client is someone who is confused or conflicted in their life. They may or may not have a clear picture of their goals and what their life should look like. How do they get there? They need guidance, clarity, and support on their life's path. They need to connect with others, with nature, and with their true self. Perhaps they are not clear on how to get help or where they can start. In the case of feeling hopeless or helpless, they need to know they have the support of another human being and, perhaps if they are spiritual, the support of the Divine, however they see that. They are looking for wholeness.

I offer a compassionate environment in which to heal and transform, beginning with embracing what IS, which allows for a more relaxed, gentle, clear and effective approach to our difficulties. Much of our emotional suffering stems from a disconnection from ourselves and our relationship with life. The work I offer facilitates a deep, authentic connection with oneself through somatic, experiential and psychodynamic work, self-inquiry, mindfulness and the support of the therapeutic relationship. Essentially I see that each person I work with has the full potential for healing already on board. We work to uncover and access that, so that full aliveness is restored.

I view therapy as a collaborative process and work in partnership with my clients to formulate goals for treatment and steps toward change. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who would like support and assistance to make changes in their lives. I often work with clients to improve their relationships, find healthy ways to cope with anxiety and/or depression, or to stop engaging in behaviors that have become problematic. I believe we sometimes develop coping strategies that work in one circumstance or developmental stage and then become ineffective as our lives change.

Gestalt Therapists

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
