Now Accepting Cigna & Aetna: Hello! I'm Dr. Spooner (she/they), a radical clinical social worker and AASECT-certified sex therapist dedicated to helping individuals liberate themselves from shame and stigma surrounding their sexual preferences, identities, and orientations. My approach is grounded in intersectional and antiracist principles, recognizing that many challenges stem from systemic oppression and marginalization. Feeling stuck in a broken relationship and wondering if the two of you can make it work is difficult to manage on your own. I use principles of PACT therapy, developed by Dr. Stan Tatkin, to help move your relationship towards secure functioning and to help you find solutions. However, maybe you have already separated and are finding it daunting to share the responsibilities of parenting your child in two completely different households. If you share children, it's likely going to require special skills to meet the child's best interests. I assist parents to rebuild communication in order to promote the child's well-being.

My name is Kate. I’ve been in the mental health field for 8 years and have extensive experience working with people who feel disconnected from themselves and others, who have experienced trauma, and who are in various stages of recovery from substance use. People trying to find themselves. People who have minimal supports, and are seeking an unbiased, non-judgmental space to have a voice.

My name is Anastaxia Kirkpatrick, and I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts. I became interested in the mental health field early on. I took my first introductory to psychology class in high school and this inspired me to pursue higher degrees in the psychology field. I eventually narrowed by specialty to forensic psychology, and I have a master's degree in forensic mental health counseling and have worked in several community settings. During my time working in community settings, I was able to witness the need for more outpatient therapists.

Working towards PhD in Forensic Psychology.
Hello! I'm Jodie. Although I have specialized in working with children and adolescents, I also work with adults who have experienced trauma or struggle with other stressors. Past roles include senior leadership positions for nonprofits in the state of Massachusetts. This included working closely with DCF, DMH, and DJJ in order to support children and families. One single approach is not suitable for everyone, so I take an integrative approach to therapy. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, Forensic Social Work, and Brief Therapy. I am also a master's Level Expert for CPCS. Public defenders can hire me as a consultant on cases.

The ideal client is open to receiving advice and implementing it into their daily lives. The client may have issues with substance abuse due to a lack of healthy coping skills. The client's needs are to improve the quality of work-life balance. It is also important for clients to learn healthy coping strategies to cope with anxiety, depression, and other underlying mental health disorders that are often the underlying cause of substance abuse.

My ideal client is willing to start the exciting but sometimes challenging journey to finding themselves. I love to work with folks who make the active decision to start therapy, even if they do not have a concrete goal in mind. I can certainly assist a client who does not have a specific goal in finding something they want to address. My ideal client would be willing to reflect on themselves, their lives, and their choices, and they would be willing to work collaboratively with me to either maintain or change their path.

Are you looking for a therapist who understands the challenges of navigating several cultures? I work with multicultural individuals, couples, and families. In relationships, cultural differences often come up in the ways we disagree or express anger, in our expectations around dating, and in what we find normal or not when raising kids. Navigating these challenges alone can feel discouraging and like no one really understands, but a culturally competent psychologist can help.

Providing individual psychotherapy for clients in need. Also offering supervision for LCSWs who are working toward independent licensure. As human beings, we each deserve a virtuous, healthy quality of life. While the days, weeks, and months pass by it can be easy to lose touch with ourselves; our own individual needs.

Psychotherapy is a deeply personal journey, often filled with intricate and conflicting emotions. At the heart of its effectiveness is creating a safe, respectful, and supportive therapeutic environment, which is essential for fostering self-awareness and growth. My practice is dedicated to facilitating this process, helping individuals enrich their interpersonal relationships and promote personal development. With a foundation in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories, and a commitment to supporting strengths based principles, I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each person.

Forensic Psychology Therapists

How does forensic psychology work?

Forensic psychology works by providing those in the legal system with expert information about psychology and behavior that they wouldn’t otherwise have. Forensic psychologists do this through a range of services—conducting psychological assessments for court cases, assisting police officers with investigations, providing expert opinion, helping with mediation, and providing mental health care to victims or perpetrators of crimes.

Can a forensic psychologist help with child custody cases?

Yes. In the event that it’s needed, an attorney or judge may appoint a forensic psychologist to provide an assessment and recommendation. This process involves multiple interviews with the child, the parent (or parents), and sometimes others. The psychologist assesses the parent’s mental health, strengths and weaknesses, and parenting practices to understand what’s in the child’s best interest. They then complete a report with recommendations based on their assessment.

Do forensic psychologists help solve crimes?

In some cases they do. For example, criminal profiling involves collaborating with law enforcement officers to construct a profile of a perpetrator based on psychology, personality, and behavior as suggested by the crime in order to focus the investigation. They may also offer expert input on subjects related to a case such as deception, false confessions, and the reliability of testimony based on eyewitness accounts.

How long do people typically work with a forensic psychologist?

The length of time an individual works with a forensic psychologist depends on the relevant service. For example, if a forensic psychologist is conducting a psychological assessment for a court case, this may take one to two sessions to complete (although they can be more extensive). If the forensic psychologist is providing therapy to someone accused or convicted of a crime, treatment may last for several months or more.
