I approach working with all clients recognizing that they are the experts on their lives, and with curiosity regarding their lived experiences. I am compassionate, supportive, and non-judgmental in my approach. I use the modality most appropriate for the client, including Narrative, Relational, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. We will work together to identify the issues you bring to therapy, including grief work, the inner coping strategies you already possess, and discover what additional skill you might add to your toolbox to successfully address the acute or chronic problem at hand.

Relationships are a quintessential part of the human experience. While they can be a source of deep hurt and pain, they also can be a source of tremendous healing and enrichment that reinforce our sense of self and our sense of belonging. Sometimes in our relationships we feel stuck or trapped in the same recurring conflict. We lose sight of what we cherish and instead zoom in on what is missing. As disconnection grows, so do our emotional walls. We need to know in our relationships that our partners are there for us, that we can depend on and access our partners when in need. That we are valued and accepted flaws and all.

My approach to therapy is to help clients identify, understand, and ultimately change the areas in their lives that have contributed to emotional and relationship pain. I deeply believe that to have the breakthrough we need in current relationships we must understand our history and how it profoundly colors and impacts us as adults. Once we learn to own our history, it no longer owns us. I work with those struggling with childhood trauma, PTSD, complex grief, depression, and relationship issues.

Is shame or fear of vulnerability getting in the way of connection or sex? Are you and your partner struggling to be on the same page emotionally or sexually? Despite being hardwired for connection, self-doubt, anxiety, depression, and other everyday obstacles tend to get in the way. Struggles related to sexual desire, performance, or physical functioning are so often burdened by shame or embarrassment. As a sex and relationship therapist, I work with clients to develop greater comfort around these topics. While my practice is inclusive of all people, I aim to provide a safe space for LGBTQIA+ clients.

Please note: I am only accepting coaching clients at this time, and am not providing therapy services. I work with people navigating big life changes or stresses and are wondering if they can get through it. Change is more difficult when you have a mental health diagnosis, difficult experiences in your past, or are adapting to a new culture. This kind of stress makes everything harder and can overwhelm all the skills you have! But there are skills and experiences you can both learn and strengthen so that you can navigate whatever life brings more effectively. I specialize in integration coaching and self-knowing coaching.

Over the course of my career, I have supported so many different clients in finding what "feeling better" looks like for them. Many of my clients have mostly satisfying lives, families, careers, etc, but find that something is missing. Or that issues from their past continue to influence the present. Finding what "feeling better" looks like is different for each individual. Patients come to me to figure out what is getting in their way, process sometime complex histories, and break through to the lives they want to be living.

Over 30 years of experience has taught me a lot about how to best help the people I see. In my work, I try to listen, with empathy and respect, and to understand what has happened that has brought someone to my office. Clients often find that being able to talk freely in a safe, confidential relationship gives them relief and helps them to develop a clearer sense of the challenges they are facing. Together, the client and I identify the important stressors and conflicts and work on developing strengths and strategies to help cope better.

**** Alert: I am currently full and not accepting new clients. **** I work primarily with adults who are struggling with emotional or relational issues. Intellectual understanding of a problem may not be enough to produce change. I try to listen deeply and help people integrate their strengths, values, and emotions in new ways. Many of my clients feel stuck or defeated in certain areas despite doing well in other domains of life.
