I specialize in working with adult women and young adults as they work through managing perfectionism, anxiety symptoms, and complicated relationship dynamics.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is start to understand your own story. In therapy with me I prioritize our therapeutic alliance, while we work on your goals, as I understand how vulnerable and unique the therapy relationship is. I do this by using a warm and empathetic approach and honoring that trust gets built slowly over time. I also try to bring in humor when appropriate and further allow my clients to feel like an equal partner in their treatment. I know there is no one size fits all to therapy and I want to make sure you and your unique needs are at the forefront of our work together.

There are times in our lives when we feel sad, depressed, confused, anxious and despite our best efforts at giving ourselves rational advice, we still don't feel better. In therapy, we work towards building a different way of thinking about ourselves and our problems. Not only will we relieve the symptoms but also achieve personal growth, acceptance of ourselves and most importantly, a liberating feeling of being understood. Every individual is unique and will have different needs and desired outcomes for their therapeutic process. With that in mind, whatever each specific client is seeking will be respected and worked towards.

When we seek therapy- we are often "on the edge" of something...usually mystifying, hugely disappointing or nerve wracking. For a while it can be confusing and sometimes debilitating. It may be a relationship breakdown, a divorce, an addiction, a loss, or even "a cliff"- in which case psychotherapy can be life saving! Some of us clearly benefit with guidance. Perhaps our collaboration will achieve this.

I believe that therapy is for everyone. When we feel safe, validated and understood, we each have the ability to feel empowered to live our best lives. My goal is to work with you and help you find the tools to truly know yourself, and to be the healthiest version of yourself that you can.

Life has its ups and downs, but do you seem to have more downs these days? Are you fearful or sad, losing sleep, worrying about partner or your child? Are you angry and irritable, then ashamed? Insecure and unhappy on your job? You don’t need to stay in this lonely, confusing place. Therapy is a wonderful opportunity to pause, breathe deeply, and take time to find your voice. As a therapist, I can be there with a listening ear, a calm presence. More than that, I provide a mix of insight, practical advice, candid feedback, warmth, and a sense of humor. Therapy is an inner journey, and I’ll be by your side.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
