It is all too common to be struggling with stress, worry, low mood, and uncertainty in our world today. I work with people around issues of anxiety and depression, loss, the suffering of trauma, struggles with relationships or family or work, life changes and transitions, and creative blocks. Sometimes people come to therapy because of past issues. Sometimes they are stuck in repetitive patterns of thinking and feeling without even knowing it. Sometimes they don't feel true to themselves or they have lost their way or zest for life.

Moreover, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a valuable and empowering technique when working with anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, and body image/eating struggles.
It’s essential clients are seen for who they are and given tools that resonate with them to do the work that therapy requires. This means merging our body and mind, our values and actions, and our personhood with our community. I support clients with these meaningful tools and empower them through life's transitions by increasing insight and skill building. One such tool is using Tarot, which can provide perspective or be used as a powerful projective tool regardless of spiritual affiliation. My ultimate goal is to integrate Eastern and Western ideologies into my practice to provide effective personalized mental health care for all.

I enjoy helping people work on achieving a balance between self acceptance and striving to incorporate positive changes into their lives. I "meet people where they are at" and encourage self exploration with gentle guidance. I often work with adults who identify as 'highly sensitive' or possess introverted qualities. I work with individuals who want to learn how to slow down and enjoy life while also finding a way to thrive in our fast paced, extroverted society. I also enjoy working with people who identify as having anxiety, ADHD or neurodivergent qualities.

As a licensed mental health clinician and certified integrative nutritional counselor in Massachusetts, I understand the challenges people face in navigating everyday life, especially when unexpected circumstances add further complexity. The coping strategies we once relied on often prove ineffective in such situations.

Stress, sadness, anxiety, relationship problems, loss, and challenges at school and work are problems we all face as human beings at one time or another. Yet, life doesn't come with an instruction manual, and finding happiness and well-being often seems difficult if not impossible. However, I believe that by understanding some simple principles about the mind and its functioning allows us to tap into our innate wisdom and common sense, make healthier choices, overcome challenges and experience more peace and contentment. I believe change happens in the present through insight, education and understanding, not by delving into the past.

I use both cognitive (mind) and somatic (body) tools to address challenges including anxiety, depression, complex trauma and pain.
My clients desire overall mindbody, holistic wellness and are willing to engage in self-study to live a more examined and fulfilling life. Together, we build the therapy alliance to identify strengths and needs and co-select the most appropriate resources to foster learning, growth, and change.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
