I am a seasoned health care professional with experience in addiction, co dependency, life challenges, grief and loss, women's issues, anxiety, depression and complex medical conditions.
It is easy to get overwhelmed with life and it's day to day challenges.Sometimes all it takes to make things easier, is someone to listen and help us see things from a different perspective. Asking for help at a difficult time is not easy. I value the opportunity to work with my clients to provide support and direction during challenging times.

I have experience supervising a wide variety of issues including but not limited to mood disorders, addiction, professional/business development, relationship and intimacy issues, infertility, GLBTQ+, and parenting.
I believe that good Supervision is a conduit for mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Having worked with individuals, couples and families I have seen my clients grow and change in the most positive and rewarding ways. In my practice I work closely with people to identify the changes they want to make in their lives. We then focus on the strengths that have helped them thus far and the challenges that have held them back. Effective supervision brings deep understanding of oneself, builds strong self-esteem, and provides an emotional, mental, and spiritual foundation for a gratifying and prosperous Psychotherapy Practice.

Mental health is how we think, feel and act as we cope with life. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Like physical health, mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Everyone feels worried, anxious, sad or stressed sometimes. But with a mental illness, these feelings do not go away and are severe enough to interfere with your daily life. It can make it hard meeting and keeping friends, hold a job or enjoy life. "Get plugged In". You cannot wish your problems away. Therapy can help.

By interweaving different types of therapy, we collaborate towards your goals in a way that's effective and respectful of your time, energy and money. Each session can be useful - I track this carefully by asking for feedback and by giving choices on how we work together. The time in-between sessions also is used - through practice 'homework' we choose individually, as a couple or as a family, or through observation/thinking. This helps us to identify what helps you to change or restrains you from change - we can then work together from an attitude of curiosity rather than "shoulds".

I specialize in working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, and addiction.
I am looking to work with people who are not satisfied with how things are in their life, and ready to take control in order for their lives to improve. In addition to actively listening and problem solving, I coach individuals to activate specific techniques designed to be applied throughout their daily lives. It is in the hands of the individual to apply these skills in order to reach their goals. If an individual is not quite there, we'll work together to figure out what's blocking their potential.

I began working in the field of mental health treatment in 2012 due to my personal experience in addiction and early recovery.
Sometimes you need a bit more support from an outside source to see issues through a new lens. I am here to help you do that. We can start by saying that anxiety, substance use, depression, rumination, and approval seeking, are all normal human challenges. Many of these problems surface in early adulthood which is why I specialize in helping people launch into adulthood with better coping skills.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
