You’re good at so many things, but you struggle in relationships, with confidence in who you are, or managing grief. Therapy will help you tap into your natural ability for deep connection, inner strength, and healing. Perhaps in Relationships- you struggle with communication, boundaries, or you keep getting stuck in the same patterns? In Identity- you know your worth, but have trouble with your self-esteem? In Grief- you get overwhelmed, and don’t know where to start to feel better? You're ready to master relationships, heal, and be unapologetically yourself.

My ideal client is someone who understands that while sessions are for sharing and learning, most of the transformation happens outside of the counseling session by doing the work. Ingredients that help facilitate change are self-compassion with time and repetition, challenging thoughts, breaking old patterns and patience with these practices. I love working with clients who have come to recognize that their current responses are not providing them with their desired outcomes and so they are willing to try new approaches.

My approach to treatment is very client-centered - people enter treatment at various stages of readiness and I am here to meet you wherever you may be. I understand the nuances of beginning therapy, meeting a new therapist, setting goals, sharing personal information, and ironing out your biggest concerns - even when you feel unsure. My hope is to help each client unlock their sources of happiness and hope so they can confront whatever challenges they are facing - mood issues, anxiety, substance issues, family dynamic concerns, trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, school-related problems, self-harm, gender issues, etc.

I see couples and individuals. Do the fights with your partner follow the same pattern? Does one of you want to talk it out and the other wants some space? Has a painful experience or betrayal such as infidelity, loss, or reproductive trauma left you both feeling alone and shaken? You long for a playful and loving connection and I can help you get there. I help highly motivated clients and couples like you learn to understand themselves and each other again. I'm successful at what I do, and right now you need an expert to guide you.

I don’t know exactly where I learned so much about human behavior, I think it was between the ages of 14 to 18 when after school I listened to the sad, frightening and remarkably unsavory troubles of adults who became my regular callers. The money was appreciated but I was more interested in giving the best advice I could. Post grade school I graduated Boston Latin School and then Boston College. I opened a chain of 5 hair salons. Working on clients, I would slow down in time to let them finish their weekly stories. I finished Cambridge College Graduate school and got a Master's degree in Counseling and became licensed...MEd, LMHC

I offer support for individuals wondering how to free themselves from limiting narratives; questioning the connection between past experiences and current patterns; processing grief from loss or major life change; seeking healing from intergenerational trauma. “Your coping behaviors show you what needs witnessing, caring for, and unburdening. If we can just approach them with curiosity and compassion, we might find what is underneath it all.” (Natalie Gutiérrez, LMFT) I offer an approach that leads with compassion and curiosity and support you to hold this for yourself.

I am currently accepting new clients via Telehealth. Healing begins in the relationship - this is the very foundation of my practice. It can be scary to share the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. I believe in building a foundation of trust, acceptance and meeting clients where they are at. Wherever you are in your journey, I am here to guide you to your truth, whatever that means for you. I have worked with adults at various points in their lives utilizing several modalities, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy. Together, we will find an approach that is tailored to you.

All sessions available in English and Spanish. Through my own and shared life experiences, I have come to know many perspectives throughout the world. Underlying the richness and uniqueness of each culture - racial, ethnic, familial, and all the nuance of what defines us - I have learned there is a common longing: to not only live but to thrive in life; to give and to receive; to have purpose and to know it. Challenges are a given along life’s journey. Contrary to what many believe, to seek help does not make one weak but rather, on some level indicates one is willing and capable of growth and, as needed, of change.

Even in the darkest of moments, it’s important that you know that you are deserving of feeling good and being well. Yet, experiences can challenge just how much you believe that is possible. You may begin to doubt, doubt turns into inaction, and inaction turns into many dark days and nights. You may feel lost, but hope is not gone. Within our work together we clarify your vision of wellness, examine roadblocks, and identify smart strategies to make life begin to work for you.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
