Note** I am currently not accepting new patients. I have been a therapist for 20+ years and have worked at MGH for the last 12 as well as having a private practice. I consider myself to be a warm, genuine therapist and have experience treating anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma, substance abuse and relationship issues. I have worked with individuals throughout the life span but particularly enjoy adults and couples. I come from a psychodynamic perspective and also include cognitive-behavioral as well as solution focused therapies in my treatment. Entering therapy is not always an easy step to make, but it can change your life.

You wish things were better in your relationship, but you feel so stuck and don't know how to make change happen. You wonder why you keep repeating the same mistakes or can't turn things around. A good therapist can assist you in making the changes you want, and in turn help you find more meaning, joy and fulfillment in your life and in your relationships.

My practice concentrates on adults and teens. One of the most important parts of therapy is to feel a connection with your therapist so that a trusting relationship can develop. Within this safe environment, changes can occur within your life, both emotionally and behaviorally. I encourage you to come in and meet with me to see if we can find that path to change together.

Trauma happens at a particular or multiple moments of time, but its effects reach into the present. Memories of past hurts keep coming up. You wish you could just forget those painful experiences and move on, except every day comes with triggers that remind you of the past. It is hard to get through each day. The feelings of sadness and hopelessness come and go, but it doesn't seem to get any better. Anxiety and nervousness get in the way of work, relationships and having fun. With all the struggles, healing is possible!

I've been described by clients as a therapist who uses warmth and humor to empathically challenge and precipitate change. In my view, therapy is a safe place to explore your experiences with an objective and empathic professional. Therapy is useful when you feel "stuck" and when self-image, relationships, and success in school or work are compromised. Present-focused strategies may help you to become "unstuck". Delving into history, thereby gaining insight into the origins of your struggles may precipitate further development. As a therapist, I collaborate with my client to create a process that is healing and promotes development.

Please reach out via email if interested in scheduling an initial assessment/session. I hold the foundational view that all of our stories occur within the context of the family, cultural, and social systems in which we live. Therefore, the pressure and supports that each of these systems provide are integral parts of both how we experience challenges and how we heal them. In each session, I utilize a strengths-based approach as well as my training in Family Systems Therapy to contour the work in order to find greater balance in client’s lives.

My first passion has always been couples therapy. I've aided clients struggling with infidelity, high conflict, parenting issues, mental health diagnoses, and substance abuse. I also have significant experience with individual and family therapy. Even when I am doing individual therapy, I am exploring the larger systems that people live in in order to improve their relationships and overall well-being.
