We offer Evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance- and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, and Exposure and Response Prevention.
My work is about guiding you in a journey so you can (re)discover what it is you most care about and want to stand for in life. We'll explore helpful and unhelpful patterns in your life made up by emotions, thoughts, behaviors, urges, histories, the contexts in which they occur, and how they are related to others in your life. Based on what you deeply care about and the existing challenges, we develop a plan of action highlighting processes and skills that help you live the life you want and free yourself from suffering. for more, go to NECOANY.org or https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D4ipnpeRa5XBivyTJt1eBMSdPzVA46ql/view?usp=sharing

My work integrates cognitive behavioral, acceptance and mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic approaches to meet your unique needs.
I am currently accepting new clients. As humans, we can often feel stuck, whether it’s in our thoughts, habits, relationships, or life altogether. We end up spending more time in our own heads and less time being truly present in the things that matter to us most. I view therapy as a space where we can work together to openly explore what's keeping you stuck and make meaningful changes to help you get unstuck. My goal is to ultimately help you feel more present and connected so you can live the life you want.

I blend together core concepts and principles from CBT, DBT, ACT.
I am a "generalist" and clinically serve individuals, couples and families across all phases of development (from pre-teens and adolescents through to older adults). Psychotherapy is a process designed to increase general mental health and well-being by clarifying goals and values, strengthening psychological weaknesses, and learning more effective and sophisticated strategies to better manage emotional, social and internal (e.g. thoughts) life. Through a gentle but focused conversational style, I utilize the latest clinical research and theory to construct a collaborative and personally-tailored treatment plan that aims for symptom relief and performance enhancement.

Although we are often taught otherwise, reaching out for help is an act of strength and courage.
Women (including trans and nonbinary individuals) face unique challenges across the lifespan, particularly during times of transition. Overwhelming emotions, irritability, anxiety, or low mood are all signs that a change is needed, quite possibly in the form of a skilled, compassionate therapist to help you navigate these experiences. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and perinatal mental health. I love working with college-aged folks (particularly the Brown University community) and couples as well.

As the global pandemic has shown us, sometimes life becomes overwhelming and uncontrollable. During these times it may be best to talk with someone outside of your community of family, friends or co-workers. A warm hearted professional to lend a moment of support and guidance. I share with clients in deciding how best to approach the issues, with the intent of addressing both the current distressing symptoms and long-standing patterns of behavior that are getting in the way of a thriving life. My practice is telehealth-based, and I accept direct pay (some prefer for privacy) as well as most PPO plans as an Out of Network provider.

*Accepting clients* My work aims to help individuals develop a deeper connection with themselves and how they relate to the world around them. Together, we will cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness to drive positive change in your life. I tend to focus on identifying maladaptive patterns in thoughts and coping strategies, understanding where these patterns stem from and what maintains them, and exploring more sustainable, affirming approaches. Often times this means examining attachments and ruptures in early development to consider how they continue to present in day-to-day life.

My Ideal client: 36 yo male, divorced, with two children. The patient was incarcerated 16 years, due to drug addiction/trafficking. He spent his early childhood living with his mother and father, who sexually abused him. They were also addicted to drugs due to their childhood experiences of being abused. The patient's parents also prostituted him in exchange for drugs for others. The patient turned to drugs to escape the pain, embarrassment, and overall trauma from his childhood. He now wants sobriety and to overcome his trauma, which includes flashbacks and negative self-image, self-hatred, and hatred of his parents.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
