My name is Kasheida Hector. I am an independently licensed therapist in both MA and RI. I love nature, family time, animals, and learning about different cultures on vacation. When thinking of healing, growing and/or changing, I believe in the importance of education, community and spirituality.

I enjoy working with both men and women over the age of 12. Much of my time has been spent working with adolescent boys and middle-aged men who are going through difficult transitions. Whether you are challenged by significant depression, anxiety, anger issues, or any other mental health challenge, I use a non-judgmental, genuine approach to help you find the motivation and self- determination to get you past your struggles toward living the life you want to live.

I am a Harvard educated, Boston Children's Hospital and Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center trained clinical psychologist, and am a founding member of Psychiatric & Psychological Associates (New Bedford, MA) and Director of the Psychology Department at Whitney Academy, a Joint Commission accredited residential treatment center serving adolescent trauma survivors. I have more than 30 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families for a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, behavior problems, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related challenges.

Relationships in Crisis: We Have Several Private Couples/Marriage Workshops & Individual Sessions, in order to Rapidly Accelerate Your Healing & Your Communication Process (Traditional 45 min. session Simply Does Not Work). During these 2 to 4 weeks, we will see both of you Together & Individually, as well as Help each of you Learn the Art of Empathy, Sensitivity & Compassion. These Workshops are Informative & Powerful, in order to Accelerate the Healing Process & Stop any further Damage from Occurring. In Addition, Our Success RATE is 85% of Our Couples that have Successfully Completed Our Couples Workshops or Alcohol Treatment.

In life we often strive for growth, whether in school, work, family, relationships, etc. Through this journey, we are met with obstacles, detours, traumas, and, tragedies. When hit with these factors, it may be difficult to focus on your initial goal. It may be difficult to find joy, satisfaction, and excitement in the things you once did. It may cause feelings of self-doubt, low self-esteem, increased anger, guilt, shame, hopelessness, or cause family disruption, and relationship conflicts. Counseling will support in addressing these unplanned factors and help restart the process for growth.

Accepting new patients for mid-early afternoon appointments only. I treat patients ages 8-30 who are seeking weekly or every-other-week outpatient therapy. I treat a variety of mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, OCD, and children on the autism spectrum who fall under the previous category of Asperger's Syndrome. In addition, I specialize in teaching parent strategies to shape desirable behavior in children, and work to improve communication and functioning within families. I believe that every person's environment and those close to them are part of their journey.
