We will explore the psychodynamic relationship between the past and present, as well as current thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Telehealth only. I help clients develop a richness and fullness to life that can so often feel absent. The path to growth and healing can feel tumultuous and multidirectional, and we'll work together to build direction, strengthen identity, and heal those parts of self that need to be heard, understood, and seen. Using a strengths-based approach, I work with adults (19+) from all walks of life to achieve balance and to help you achieve your goals. It is a privilege to be your partner on this journey.

Emotional turmoil arises when you lack the assurance and sincerity to pursue a life filled with purposeful endeavors and positive actions. Diminished self-worth, wavering confidence, unhealthy relationship dynamics, dwindling motivation, career setbacks, or persistent anxiety all contribute to a detrimental self-perception and interpersonal interactions, resulting in symptoms that may exacerbate a descent into distress.

Relationship issues, work/life stress, minor substance-related disturbances, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, anger management, and career counseling are a few issues I help resolve with my clients. Emotional disturbance (anxiety, depression, confusion, etc) manifests when you fail to confidently and honestly live your life with meaningful purpose and positive action. Low esteem, lack of confidence, little motivation, and chronic worry all negatively impact your relationship to self and others creating symptoms that can spiral downward. We will arrest potential spiral and redirect its energy upward toward wellness.

We have two new LCSW clinicians, Josephine and Zackary, they have evening availability Monday-Thursday. What does it mean to be Authentically You? By definition, Authentic means to be “true to one’s own personality, spirit or character”. To be your authentic self, means to be unapologetically, bravely and freely you. We believe that together we can find who you are. We believe it is important to be human in sessions, to connect and grow the therapeutic relationship, so that you feel safe to be honest and vulnerable, to make progress together.

I am currently accepting new clients at my East Taunton home office. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and general life changes. I currently work with individuals and couples, and no longer accept clients under 18 years old. As each person is unique and brings with them their own personal history, I develop a treatment plan with each client based on their needs, personality, vulnerabilities, and strengths. I use interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (TF-CBT), mindfulness, CBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I recently decided to let go of my office and offer virtual sessions. My practice is limited to women. Although I specialize in the treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional), I have a few openings for women struggling with other issues such as depression, anxiety, and life stressors. I am getting ready to start an online survivor group and self-esteem group. Groups have been by far the most lifechanging mode of therapy in my 30 years of experience.

Together, we'll arrest any potential spiral and redirect your energy upward through cognitive therapy, action methods, and goal-orientation.

Waitlist for new clients
My ideal client is ready for change in their life. They are most likely struggling with anxious spiraling thoughts, relationship or interpersonal conflicts, depressive symptoms, navigating grief and loss, or experienced trauma and PTSD. These struggles, whether they have been life-long or recently new, can become manageable with newly learned skills in a therapeutic environment that supports and understands you. When you are seen, heard, and validated, personal growth starts to evolve. I have a passion for working with first responders, single parents, and parents of children with disabilities, however, all are welcome!

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
