Being vulnerable and going to therapy can be scary, but I'm glad you're here. I believe that everyone needs a safe space to work through their thoughts, emotions, and feelings, and should be able to do so without fear of judgment. My experience as a therapist includes working with teens, younger adults, and older adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and general stress in their life. I believe transparency is very important to the therapeutic relationship and allows both the individual and the therapist to build trust with one another.

If you are struggling with loss, anxiety, depression, or just feeling overwhelmed let me help you find relief.
As a licensed clinician, I believe in two fundamental truths. The first being "I believe in the possibility of change" and the second "I create a safe space to make that change". These beliefs help people heal and recover. As we develop in life, we all face transition and change. Some of these waters are difficult to navigate through and few of us can do so without a guide or support. I will support you so that you can see a clear path to your desired goals. "The purposes of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out. " Prov 20:5

Currently accepting new clients! I enjoy working with individuals with a sense of humor and a desire to understand themselves on a deeper level. My approach to therapy is grounded in a deep respect for each person’s unique journey and a commitment to fostering growth and resilience. I understand that taking those initial steps toward counseling can be a challenging endeavor. Therapy is unique to each person, but some themes I have noticed are people seeking out an understanding of their emotions, an improved ability to cope and function and feeling more empowered about their individual situations.

I believe that we all possess inner strengths and skills that can help us overcome challenges to live a more fulfilled and purposeful life. However, accessing this ability can sometimes be overwhelming that may require guidance and support.

Imagine: I have a magic wand and grant you the tools to navigate you or your child's ups and downs. What would be different if you had these tools? I am invested in my clients gaining this ability and will work with you to make your life feel more manageable by building upon strengths. I work with women who have carried around harmful, internalized messages through their lives and are looking to deconstruct and heal. My other love is in working with children. I believe that intervening in a child's life while their brain is permeable and eager to learn can make a difference for the rest of their lives.

What's holding you back from living your best life? Is it depression or anxiety? Fear of change? Are you stuck in a cycle of self-medicating? Maybe you're just curious to figure out why you keep repeating old patterns or you're at a crossroad. Therapy can be helpful to develop healthy coping skills, set (and maintain) healthy boundaries and explore the "why" of behaviors you want to change.

I approach my clients collaboratively with a warm, accepting and compassionate attitude. I believe developing a trusting relationship is the most effective foundation to approach the hardships and mind habits we all face in life. I use specific CBT and Mindfulness skills to help my clients reduce symptoms and feel better soon. Anxiety, obsessiveness and depressed feelings can be significantly reduced while I teach clients how to govern the mind, creating new habits and strategies. As a practitioner of mindfulness who has attended many Insight Meditation retreats, I can share with you the benefits of attention from both personal and professional experience.

I work with people on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress management, managing conflict, and relationship issues.
you are presumably looking to make some sort of change. You may be suffering from anxiety, depression, lingering events from your past, or dealing with current stressors from family, relationships, work, or life events. All too often people resort to unhealthy means or patterns to alleviate their pain, stress, or mood but the relief is often fleeting and our best attempts can often backfire leaving us overwhelmed and exhausted. Therapy can serve as a collaborative process in which you can work through the obstacles that stand in the way of a happy and fulfilling life.

Life is not easy. Sometimes we find ourselves in circumstances we never anticipated. Sometimes things fall apart. Sometimes we can't see the path ahead and we may feel we've lost our way. Unresolved past traumas or recent traumatic events may rob us of our peace and hope. Relationship issues, depression, anxiety, habits that overtake us, chronic pain and phase of life issues may arise unexpectedly to hinder our progress towards our life goals.

I assist clients to break through barriers by addressing addiction, toxic relationships, paralyzing anxiety, unbearable grief and anger, or fear of the unknown related to life transitions or "growth spurts".
Starting is often the hardest part. We all want to have someone listen to us; someone to understand where we have been, where we want to go & help us find a way to get there. No judgement here, just honest conversation to help you help yourself. Sometimes life takes alternate paths & we could all use a little GPS from time to time. I'm a firm believer that people need people and that we are all in this life together. Let's explore ways to get you to, or back to, the version of yourself that you want to be. Something or someone has driven you to Psychology Today. You don't have to continue feeling this way.

CONGRATULATIONS! I want to applaud you on having the courage and strength it takes to reach out when you are struggling and likely feeling the most vulnerable. I know how difficult it can be to ask for help, especially when you may be feeling anxious, angry, depressed, overwhelmed, lonely, misunderstood, or impacted by trauma. I aim to provide a safe, supportive and reassuring space where we can work together to alleviate your suffering and begin your healing. I have an active, non-judgmental approach to the therapy process and have found that honesty, curiosity, creativity, and humor can be very helpful in overcoming challenges.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
