With over a decade of experience as a mental health therapist, I have had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings. I understand that people come to therapy for many reasons—relationship problems, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, self-improvement, weight management—the list can be complex and unique to each person. I enjoy collaborating with those seeking to better understand themselves and improve emotional resilience so they can navigate life's challenges with greater ease and live the satisfying and productive lives they desire.

I have experience in guiding clients through navigating anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, identity, as well as working through relationship and family issues. I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as with athletes and performers. Adulthood and emerging adulthood brings complex issues: facing big decisions, navigating important relationships, and discovering what we want for our lives. I enjoy working with clients as they explore the impact their environment had on them from an early age, and how it has shaped the person they are today, in order to navigate their present in a way that feels aligned.

In my experience as a mental health clinician for student-athletes in the Counseling Center at Harvard, I've found that true growth comes from stepping out of our comfort zones and diving into the messy yet fruitful journey of self-discovery. I've learned along the way that understanding why we think, feel, and act the way we do sets the stage to make real changes in our lives. That's why I'm all about helping folks gain that self-insight that we can evaluate together how it's functioning in the present, and from there we can collaborate on what is going to change and how that change can come about.

We use 10 acres of land on a farm we revived to give hope toward the pursuit of happiness and wholeness. Growth does not happen in an office; it happens while gardening, trimming hooves, picking eggs, shearing sheep, and chopping wood. We use the land to help you stretch your eyes. Maybe your search is around coping skills or developing interior athletics or just getting active again. Whatever it may be, we will support and guide you in finding wellness. We are prepared to confidentially, professionally, and in an nontraditional manner take some steps in addressing your mental health difficulties. Come join us on this journey.

Sports Performance Therapists

How does sports psychology work?

Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?

The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?

Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?

Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
