I specialize in relationship and marriage issues, mood disorders and stress and anxiety problems.
The way psychotherapy is practiced has a lot to do with the mind set and life experience of the psychologist. I have been in private practice since 1980, and beyond the traditional training for psychologists, I also trained extensively in an approach known as Psychology of Mind, or Health Realization. This is a cognitive approach that is very down-to-earth but rooted in principles akin to those behind meditation, yoga and similar traditions that were developed to enhance optimal human functioning.

Get your relationship back on track.
The last fight you had with your partner was very different. Things took an ugly turn, and you said things you never expected to say to each other. Now you’re not sure how to recover. It feels like you’ve hit a fork in the road. It wasn’t always like this. You remember talking long into the night, sharing your vulnerabilities. Only now, you have them thrown back in your face when the arguing starts. The little digs and insults have created a chasm of hurt between you that feels uncrossable. Last night’s fight was awful, and you never want to go there again. There’s still love between you, but you need help.

Most importantly, I work with people who are looking to strengthen their relationship with themselves.
The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence. Prioritizing your mental health is essential to your overall well-being. If you don’t take care of yourself, it affects your relationships and physical health. Knowing the steps to make yourself a priority can be challenging but I can help. My goal is to guide and support you, while empowering you to reconnect back to yourself.

I value the client-therapist connection above all else, and believe that meaningful therapeutic work can be accomplished only in the context of a safe and secure relationship.
I am a clinical psychologist who works with adolescents and young adults struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties. In addition to working as a therapist, I hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital, where I previously worked as a staff psychologist and continue to serve as a supervisor. My experience in these roles enables me to work effectively with individuals whose distress is particularly overwhelming and incapacitating.

My specialty is in teaching healthy communication skills to couples, and to help anyone to communicate more effectively. This comes from educating clients about how their past programming and particularly family systems affects them and can create defenses that cause obstacles in their lives. Through understanding one learns to accept all parts of themselves and set themselves free from unwanted emotions and behaviors. Communication improves and personal growth (higher emotional EQ) develops. Please tune in to my instagram post called mind.awakenings for valuable mental health tips and personal development coaching.

I work with individuals during the perinatal period, from pregnancy through the first year of life, as well as parents of young children. While the journey into parenthood can be rewarding, it can also bring unexpected challenges such as sadness, anxiety, identity struggles, burnout, and feeling overwhelmed. Whatever you're going through, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I believe therapy should provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, manage stress, and discover healthy ways to cope with the unique challenges of pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.

Using the therapeutic process I can offer many things to people: empathy and a sounding board, other ways of looking at issues, and ideas about how to solve problems. In addition, I can help you feel more alive to your experience as paying attention to your inner voice can increase your capacity to feel and be present.
I have been a therapist for over twenty years. I also have taught clinical practice for ten years to students earning their masters degrees in counseling and I provide ongoing clinical supervision for people who work in various settings.

I am a clinical social worker passionate about helping people find ways to their best selves. I provide a safe and supportive environment for the client in search of self-understanding. I believe people have the capacity to feel content, grateful and joyful but a lot of the time our preconceived notions of ourselves get in the way. Everyday I am amazed at people's resilience.

My passion and dedication to the work is evident upon our first meeting. My positive energy stems from the belief that change is possible and I come to restore hope. I provide an open, compassionate and non judgmental space for my clients to explore their past and present lives. Collaboratively, we work together, at your pace, to obtain the goals that you identify. I believe that parenting is a journey that we undertake without a map and, at times, along the way, we all get lost. And, together, we can create a new path that feels good to you.

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
