I welcome all parts of you and believe that all parts are good and want to protect you from deep pain.
Do you feel stuck responding in the same seemingly unhelpful patterns? Maybe you have a sense that there is something deeper behind these patterns, that something from your childhood is affecting you now as an adult. You know you want to change, but are unsure of how. It feels like anxiety, worry, guilt, shame, and self-doubt are the ones controlling the direction of your life. Maybe you feel like you have lost touch with your authentic self. You are ready to dive deep and truly heal, so you can live your life authentically you! Do you experience shame, guilt, or painful sex? I help women create a pleasurable sex life!

My Specialties Include: Peri/Postnatal Anxiety and Depression, Working with first responders and their families, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Pain Management, and Sports Psychology.
My strong desire to help others came naturally, growing up with a parent who was a first responder and through exposure to people with developmental disabilities in our community. I’ve tailored my education to support my passion of helping others. In 2021, I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with my Master's in Social Work. All of my jobs have focused on people, from my first job spending summers as a camp counselor with young children to my more recent jobs of working with at-risk youth and their parents, to my current work providing therapy to children, adolescents and adults.

I am a licensed mental health counselor with 20+ years of experience in helping people and teaching them skills based on neuroscience that they can use to help decrease their stress, worry, or sadness and to manage their chronic pain or other medical problems.
Let’s face it. Life is hard right now and the past few years have been challenging for many. Do you find yourself worrying a lot about the economy, your bank account, job, health, or the world in general? Perhaps you’re grieving the loss of a person or pet, or are anxious, depressed or just feeling stressed to the max. Maybe you find yourself snapping at others or wanting to pull the covers over your head. Or maybe you’re dealing with chronic pain or another medical issue and lack the support of others because it’s “invisible” and they don’t understand. If any of the above sounds like you, I’d be happy to help.

Our broad goal––of course––is “the end of unnecessary suffering.” Sound about right? While we all strive for this, I specialize in helping folks with a very-unique kind of suffering: OCD. I can tell you that few people understand the pain and complexity of OCD—(even most therapists). I will listen intently to your unique story. Just know that I can introduce you to an arsenal of tools that can help: mindfulness, ERP (exposure and response prevention) and on and on. Yes, thoughts can be “sticky.” But––with hard work––if (or when) those thoughts come back around…they can be as quiet & as harmless as a yellow post-it.

Whether college, work, family, a declining family member or your own medical illness, things are hard. Life can feel overwhelming. You’re exhausted. You put other’s needs in front of your own. You keep pushing these feelings down and telling yourself “it’ll be okay” because you can’t take on JUST. ONE. MORE. THING. You deserve the time to slow down and be heard. It's hard to make the time for therapy, but your inner voice will thank you.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
