I am a strengths-based, integrative therapist at heart with a flexible style.
Everyone can benefit from some help once in a while, and finding a therapist who is a good fit can feel stressful and confusing. You want to feel understood, respected, and supported while getting the individual attention you need. Life is too short to be anxious or depressed all the time, surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, or let trauma control us. I will help you get "unstuck", learn to move beyond emotional pain, and live your life in a healthier way. Whatever it is that you are facing, I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to take charge of your future and write your own story.

Using an integrative approach we begin to identify and process patterns and parts that impede change.
"Life feels too hard, too disappointing, too scary. I feel like a terrible person." Feelings are normal. We all have them but sometimes we become overwhelmed and get stuck in patterns that repeat unsatisfying results over and over. Whether from trauma, grief, low self esteem, addictive behaviors or attachment disruptions, I can help you shift toward greater satisfaction and ease in your life by listening and working together to focus in on core areas that have become barriers to your well being.

Grounded in Existential Psychotherapy but practicing an integrative approach, I became a therapist because I had good therapy myself.
How will I - a California trained LMFT – be more effective for you? Unlike many Massachusetts counselors based in the “medical model” I don’t treat symptoms, I treat systems. I’ll work with you and partners/spouses or family members, if you choose to include them, to identify not "What’s wrong with me?” but rather, “How'd I get here?” We’re all products of our childhood. I'll work with you to identify and challenge the faulty agreements forced upon you before you could defend yourself against them, co-discover alternate viewpoints about yourself and the world and then enact these new agreements to create a new life.

My approach to therapy is integrative, combining CBT, Psychodynamic and Relational models, along with skills drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mind/Body mindfulness.
I assist clients who are wanting to improve their lives in significant ways. While I specialize in treating eating disorders, anxiety and depression, most clients also come to me with related issues of trauma, self-confidence, struggles with change/transition, work, family relationships and other stressors. I see therapy as a collaborative process taking place in the context of an empathic relationship where support and appropriate challenge are offered. I encourage individuals to learn about themselves, understand the meaning behind symptoms and develop skills that enable them to take positive action toward well-being.

What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.
How does integrative therapy work?
Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.
How long does integrative therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
How effective is integrative therapy?
There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
