Whether you are looking for help with relationship issues or ways to manage anxiety, depression, or problems of everyday life, choosing a therapist is one of the most important decisions you can make. When clients feel secure, valued, and understood in the therapeutic relationship, exploration and resolution of difficult life experiences or painful emotions becomes possible. Tailoring psychotherapy to each client's unique needs is one aspect of creating a secure therapeutic bond. I work in a flexible manner, based on experience in diverse schools of therapy, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal.

Your outcome from the therapeutic process is highly dependent upon the relationship you co-create with the therapist.
Success has been defined as happiness in our professional and personal lives. Sometimes we struggle in one or both areas, hindered by feelings of disappointment, frustration, anger or sadness. Things can be different; it is possible to live a meaningful, happy life. In psychotherapy and psychoanalysis you have the opportunity to look closely at your life. The intention of this thoughtful examination is to reduce the discrepancy between the life you have and the life you want.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you navigate anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and more.
Are you struggling to communicate effectively with your partner or family members? Do you feel like your relationships are stuck in a rut? It doesn't have to stay that way. Everyone has time in their life when they need help. I am here to listen and to offer my expertise and knowledge. My favorite part of therapy is not done alone. It takes at least two people or more to work together to work through problems, figure out goals, and develop strategies to reach them.

For many people, therapy can be a deeply rewarding and transformational process. We all have our own fears, doubts, insecurities and patterns of self-defeating behaviors that hold us back from living up to our fullest potential. Through the creation of an accepting, respectful and collaborative relationship, I will work with you to develop greater self-acceptance as you undertake the changes you would like to make, with the ultimate goal of living a happier, healthier and more successful life.

I work with men and women who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, and career and professional crises.
Therapy can be an important aid in managing transitions, stresses, and crises. It can also provide a safe and supportive context to address longstanding struggles with depression, anxiety, or other concerns. I am a psychodynamically trained therapist who also utilizes cognitive behavioral and relational approaches. My clients describe me as attentive, supportive, and non judgemental. I view therapy as a collaboration between myself with my professional skills and training, and you with your knowledge of yourself and your desire for support and change. I am an authentic, active therapist who approaches therapy gently and directly.

If you can turn this into a habit, you increase your chances at experiencing a successful relationship.
Conflict in relationships is normal. But prolonged conflict can break even the most successful relationships. If you or your partner perceives, feels and experiences this conflict in a harmful manner the two of you need to see a " Relationship Expert" who can help you master "Healthy Interactions". Couple therapy provides a safe, mediated environment to not only explore your emotions and perceptions but implement "Effective Tools" to create permanent change. I am a big believer in homework and accountability. Your time with me will not be wasted and I expect my clients to work hard.

You're not sure about what is getting in your way and you are ready to talk about it with an experienced therapist (almost 30 years), maybe even just a few sessions to see if you can get back on track, or determine if that relationship/situation is ideal for you.
IN-PERSON sessions offered in my Burlington, MA office. My approach is relational and in the here-and-now. My style is warm, engaging, and focused on assisting my clients in getting through, and learning from, the difficulties of depression, anxiety, communication issues, and life transitions, to name a few. I have been told that I am "direct and to-the-point", focusing on specific solutions. Most of my clients are surprised at how quickly they feel better. It is my goal to be able to work with you to move more quickly towards your goals as well as help you to feel "comfortable in your skin" and more contented with your life.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
