Adversity and struggle are situations that are common. The goal to avoid both would be ideal but that is not reality. Peace and calmness in the mist of adversity and struggle is a possible reality and what we will strive to help you achieve. My approach is client centered and you are the expert of your life. Together we will take a nonjudgemental look at what is going on in your life, what is working for you and what is not. In a safe environment we will help you put together a game plan allowing you to see what you need to change in order to get to where you see yourself and where you want to be.

The individuals I work with often face a range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. Many are struggling with depression, anxiety, or addiction. Many feel overwhelmed by life’s stressors, such as relationship conflicts, financial difficulties, or trauma. Others may be navigating the complex emotional terrain of feeling stuck or disconnected, whether from themselves or from others. Everyone's goals are unique and we will work together to clarify those goals and make a plan to achieve.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

I have over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, art therapist, mental health advocate, and educator. My approach to therapy is fuelled by compassion and curiosity, but is equally rooted in Relational-cultural Theory, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy – three perspectives which blend well with holistic wellbeing and deep healing. I work in a trauma- informed, healing-centered way and am sensitive to one’s intersectional identity. I draw on embodied approaches to wellbeing and work to support self-compassion, self-regulation, and to foster resilience in those I am privileged to accompany along their journeys.

ATTN: I am part of Lorenzi Health, LLC. Intake coordinators will contact and schedule new clients. So often we are faced with stressful and overwhelming situations that leave us feeling disempowered, drained, and at times even hopeless. In today’s world so many people struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, and life’s uncertainties. We all need an outlet “a release” someone we can turn to when we’re feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders. Someone we can trust and confide in without feeling judged or shamed.

My practice is based on Motivational Interviewing, a counseling approach that holds the belief that each of us has the capacity to develop solutions to the problems we confront and that the role of a therapist is to collaborate with people to identify goals, and strategies to achieve those goals, that best fit their lives. People who enter therapy with me can expect to experience an empathic, supportive and respectful relationship that aims to help them increase their clarity regarding the choices facing them, their motivation to pursue important life changes, and their confidence in their ability to do so.

What is standing in the way of you and your inner peace? Peace is difficult to obtain when your mind is too loud. Perhaps your self care has been on the back burner and you've managed thus far but there has always been something amiss. It's time for change. Change is how we grow, how we thrive. Therapy is not cookie cutter, it grows and changes just like people do. Being a human is hard, and we all need support from time to time. Therapy is not about what is "wrong" or fixing what is "bad." Its about learning to live life on life terms, understanding your whole self and all of your parts in order to truly live and thrive.

You've arrived here because you're determined to undergo a transformation. You're ready to break free from the past and start moving forward. Congratulations for making it this far! It takes a lot of courage to let go of old habits and envision a new future for yourself. Although it can be intimidating, it's also exciting. Think of it like jumping into a pool. Once you push past your fear and take the leap, change begins to happen. Your body and mind adjust to the refreshing water, and your mood and outlook start to improve.

In my work with couples, I recognize that communication can often be a significant barrier to connection. Many couples I work with experience their own mental health needs, which can complicate interactions and lead to misunderstandings. I create a safe and supportive environment where partners can openly express their thoughts and feelings. Together, we explore the underlying issues that may be hindering communication/connection and work on strategies to enhance understanding and empathy. I help couples develop practical skills for healthier communication.

Representation matters and I am part of the LGBT community, latinx and have many invisible disabilities. I have been doing this work for a little over 10 years (MSW Boston College 2015). I am ready when you are! Genuine compassion and trust is at the root of any solid relationship and necessary for growth to manifest! Starting therapy takes courage and you are well on your way simply by researching therapists. Therapy is helpful when we are ready to do the messy work. As your therapist, I also have to be ready and capable of containing all of what comes up in therapy.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
