Do you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, and insecure? Has your relationship been wounded or lost its spark? Are you feeling dissatisfied or stuck with some aspect of your life and not sure how to make a shift? Has becoming or being a parent turned your world upside down? Life is full of transitions and stressors and it’s hard to stay in tune with ourselves, our partners, and our family members as we grow, change, and deal with stress. Sometimes we all need a safe space to process, reconnect, and heal – to speak our pain, communicate what we need, and be supported as we tap back into love and connection.

Openings Available Now! I help adults and adolescents gain control over their anxiety and OCD and improve their quality of life. Are you feeling anxious or nervous? Do you find yourself feeling stuck, dissatisfied, or unhappy because you can't stop over-thinking or worrying? Would your relationships, career, or academics greatly improve if you could manage your anxiety? Does your anxiety ever cause you to feel like the walls are closing in, like your heart is beating out of your chest, or like you can’t catch your breath? If so, you’re not alone. Anxiety can be overwhelming but it doesn’t have to limit your life.

I’m willing and able to do just that. Together, we can do this: I use a range of solution-focused approaches: treatments that work (CBT, DBT, and whatever else works). We’ll figure out exactly how you’ve “gotten here,” plan a way out, and I’ll guide you along the way…as we activate your strengths and your inner resources to live a better life. As an Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, I was not cognizant of the impact of mental illness on family and society, until I decided to pursue a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Degree. I believe that societal stigmatization of mental illness, and the shame felt by families who have a loved one with mental illness, makes it difficult for these patients to recover, and live peacefully for the rest of their lives. Psychiatric illness should be treated like a medical illness with no stigma, no blame or shame.

My ideal client would be someone who seeks to find meaning in their lives. They feel lost, as though they need direction. They often feel like their point of view is different and seek to understand themselves and others. Their needs are to feel safe, heard, and validated. Goals would include finding meaning in life and building a life based on that meaning, whether it be continuing their path with a renewed sense of purpose, starting a new job or going to school; ultimately identifying and channeling their inner beliefs into something that is productive and/or satisfies their needs.

Our broad goal––of course––is “the end of unnecessary suffering.” Sound about right? While we all strive for this, I specialize in helping folks with a very-unique kind of suffering: OCD. I can tell you that few people understand the pain and complexity of OCD—(even most therapists). I will listen intently to your unique story. Just know that I can introduce you to an arsenal of tools that can help: mindfulness, ERP (exposure and response prevention) and on and on. Yes, thoughts can be “sticky.” But––with hard work––if (or when) those thoughts come back around…they can be as quiet & as harmless as a yellow post-it.

Don't say it...You are exhausted, right? There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything you had intended to do done. On the good days you are walking through a fog and on the not so good ones you call out and binge watch something on tv. Next morning the alarm and you try again. Is this you? My ideal client is someone who wants to fire me. Nothing makes me happier than a check in call from a past client who just wants to check in while things are great, or to work through a bump in the road. It's my goal to get people beyond their current hurdles and back to living their best life.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Hi there, I work with many individuals including those that are managing mood disorders, anxiety, depression and trauma. Clients of mine often are looking to understand themselves more clearly and find supported challenge in our sessions. Helping parents and caregivers of teens has been a special interest of mine for many years. My clients that are also parents are often looking to understand their own experiences as teens, how those experiences are influencing them and their kids and ultimately how to best support their families.

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.
How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.
Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.
Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
